Hello all. My e-brake isn't working. I assumed one of the cables broke, so I searched and check them out. All the cables are intact, so I went under the car while my wife pulled the handle. From what I saw, it seems the cables are just loose, as the front cable just doesn't pull enough to make rear cables pull enough to activate the rear calipers. (Does that make sense?) I read that the e-brake is supposed to automatically adjust, but I can't figure out how that is supposed to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Did you take apart your center console to make sure the cable hasn't slipped out of place....? My brothers SVT and mine as well had the lead end that is seated in the e-brake itself fail. I believe that is the equalizer piece, it has a solid knob at one end and is about a foot long and then underneath the car it has a metal bracket which the two cables for the brakes tie into.

Possibly the cables going from the equalizer to the brakes themselves are broken? My brother had his car for a long time, and could never figure out why his e-brake wasn't that strong, and then the figured out that one side was siezed up... Well as long as your cable at the e-brake still follows the channel and has the tab holding it, then i'd say it's probably one of the cables back further.... Wish I could take a look at it.... if you don't mind posting some pics would be nice...

the cables attach to something on the rear calipers, my brake lines slipped off of them and thats why i have no ebrake anymore :help:

To me, it looks like the frint cable is too long, as when I pull the handle, it moves, just no far enough to pull tight on teh equalizer bar. I'll be giving it a closer look tonight.

Double check that it didn't slip out of the channel at the e-brake, if it's not being held straight in line by the metal tab, and it falls inbetween the gear piece and the moving e-brake lever then you have a problem....

Does any one have a pic of where the cable should be seated (at the handle)? I was looking at mine and it seems to be seated a little wierd? I'll post pics tonight, but mine just seems to look weird, from an engineering standpoint.

If I have time I'll snap one, but idk if I'll have time...

Here's what mine looks like as of now.

To me the cable looks like it should maybe be in the channel to the left in the pic.

can you get that same shot.. but from the other side of the e-brake..??? That looks like the back, so a front shot? I may have time tomorrow if I remember to do it... to take a pic of mine..

Okay, if your cable has fallen in the crack where the green arrow is pointing, you need to replace your e-brake, if the cable is still following the red line, you should be fine as far as your e-brake handle is concerned,,,

Looking at your pictures, from what I can see, it looks like that part is still good, you may have some seized cables in the rear then...

Yup. Gonna grab a JY one Monday. hope that does it, thanks again.

No problem, if you have any trouble getting it in let me know, my brothers was tighter then hell, and then it just "popped" into place... idk what happened, but we put one of the bolts in and the cranked on the handle (be careful you don't bend it) and eventually it went.... Mine just went right in, smoothe as ice...
