so cel came on the other day and i got it read. said multi cylinder misfire. so im guessing its time for new plugs and wires. what are the reccomended plugs. and the recomended wires?

could it be sumthing worse then just plugs and wires?

Not so fast.
I had the same problem (a long time ago) and it turned out to be a bad HEI-coil. (The one on the firewall - in between the driver+front passenger - where all the plug-wires 'terminate').

True. A multi-cylinder misfire means several aren't firing correctly, and I don't see all the plugs/wires going bad at the same time. Test the coil first.

gonna have to agree with this guy. Usually plugs and wires are something I would suggest if its a specific cylinder, but in this case its happening randomly at multiple intervals, check the coil.

Depending upon mileage it might be time to just overhaul the ignition system anyways, if you are close to 100K you could just pick up a coil, plugs, wires and do it all at once. Everything Motorcraft is always the way to go.

there is no reason to replace the coil at 100k unless there is a problem with it ...

That was kinda the point, as in. If it were tested and proven faulty, then I would replace all of the components linked to the coil just to be safe.
