My son has a '95 Contour with a Duratech V-6. The power steering is leaking at both the connection from the pump to the "pump outlet tube (pn 3A719)" and the connection to the power steering pressure hose to the outlet of the "Pump outlet tube".
Both connections have a threaded bushing/nut around the tubing that inserts into the pump or fitting. The tubing that goes through the bushing/nut looks like it is flared where it goes into the pump and outlet tube but never "seats". By never seating I mean you can still turn the outlet tube when the bushing/nut is fully tightened.
My quesetion is:How is this supposed to keep from leaking or is this supposed to seat to provide a positive seal?
We have been fighting this for over a week and have replaced the outlet tube, but still leak at the pump and pressure hose connections.
Any insight or help would be appreciated.

are you talking about the little white oval rings:confused:

if so those are one time use once they are taken off they dont work again
auto zone carries them in two packs for when you replace the hose

The nylon gaskets went around the threaded nut that screwed into the pump. This area seals fine. The leak is between the hose and the threaded nut.
I will take a picture tonight and post it.

The leak is where the tubing goes through the bushing. You cant get the bushing/nut thingy off of the tubing to put any thread tape or oring on it. I tried working RTV in between the tubing and the bushing and fixed it (along with epoxee) where the line goes into the outlet tube. The leak is now down where the same type of connection goes into the pump.
I must be missing something as it works from the factory.

I know i had a power steering leak and replaced the pressure line and the little line that connects the pressure line to the pump and drove us nuts because it would keep leaking. The connections when tight will still allow the line to be loose. It actually was the pump leaking even though we could see it leaking on the little line from the pump to the pressure line. I spent a lot of evenings working on this leak so i am very familiar with this area.
