Air bag control module mounting

I purchased a 98 Contour a while ago that had the air bag lamp on when I bough it. It was supposed to be the clock spring I was told. I would really like to have the secondary restraint system working..... Well I got around to looking it this last fall and I found out the following:

1. The passenger side air bag is not installed
2. The airb bag sensors in front of radiator are not installed
3. It looks like the harnessing, the drivers air bag, the air bag control module have been updated as they are year 2000 parts I believe.
4. The air bag control module is not grounded (it is not mounted to chassis)

A few questions I have are:
1. How is the air bag control module mounted on 99-2000 Contour's? I am hoping there is a bracket that attaches to the two lugs that are on the tunnel you can see in the pics.

2. Where exactly should the front crash sensors be located?

3. What is the part number of the passenger air bag, front crash sensors, and dirvers air bag that work with a 2000 Air bag control module p/n XS2F-14B321-AE

Thanks for any help. I really do not expect help on question 3 here but question would really be nice to know.

Important question, as im pretty sure they changed the airbags from gen 1 to gen 2, is your tour a 98 or 98.5? If it is 98.5 you can use anything from 98.5-00. As i have read somewhere that ford changed the airbags somewhere through production, but only once, no mid-year(besides 98 to 98.5) changes to my knowledge.

someone please correct me if I'm wrong

added: question 1: Go to a junk yard and pull apart a 98+ contour and find out. Im not sure.

I have tried 3 local yards and have only found 98's. My Contour is a 98 but the air bag system has been changed to a 2000 as far as the parts that are installed. I am hoping that someone here who has had a counsel off a 99 or 2000 can tell me if there is a bracket I am missing or what.

You might want to talk with the PO

Depending on your state, it might not be legal to sell a car without fully disclosing important facts, and a missing airbag is an important fact.

Depending on your mood, the money involved and the state you live in, you might want to seek legal advice.

It was surprising when I started troubleshooting. When I got to the point where the air bag lamp started flashing trouble codes and it said incorrect resistance of passenger airbag and I looked and there was none I was a bit surprised.

I bought the car from a kid in Michigan a while ago. I have a hunch he may not have known about it. As I recall he was in high school or just out.

I picked up the car for a great deal so I don't hold it against him.

Yes you are missing a bracket for mounting the module. That is what goes into those two holes. Then the connector plugs into it on the driver side.

The Autozone info tells you where everything needs to go. I strongly suggest you get a Ford CD for your car from Todras, here.

FYI, I have a 99 passenger side AB for sale. PM me if you want it. The ford site says the AB's work for 98 - 00. Drivers side is 95 -00.

Anything you need to know about parts, you can get from Bill Jenkins at Team Ford.

My 2 Cents,
AF

Thanks for the info on the bracket. I have one of the Ford CD's which has helped with troubleshooting. As far as the air bag I am working with someone that may be able to provide everything I am missing. I will let you know in a few days if I am in need of the passenger air bag you have.
