Well, I've been a member here.. since like... well a long time. I own a 2000 Cougar with 3L swap, and waiting on a Stage 3 Nautilus turbo kit....

My beater car, a 1993 Ford Tempo V6, well its showing its age.. badly. The A/C doesn't work and the weather here the last few days makes me really wish I had A/C.

I need a 4 door sedan (children), but I want something reliable and fairly cheap. After all the car is replacing my beater. In comes a late year 1999 Contour SVT, with 128000kms. I know its a late model year vehicle because it has a returnless fuel system, so I guess you guys call this a 1999.5 SVT.

I pick it up tomorrow.

I do have one question. I remember seeing it posted somewhere but can't find where now. How do I find out what # my SVT is? Also how many SVTs were built in 1999?

you can call SVT and have your VIN ready and they can tell you the production number.

AWESOME!

Welcome to the club Pierre... you will love your SVT shortly as long as there is nothing major wrong with the car.. LOL

I currently have 3 but 1 is for sale... Unfortunately I dont miss my Cougar at all but I attribute that to the fact that I owned a crappy automatic.

Call 1-800-FORDSVT and ask if they can give you any details on your build number and whatnot - its free and they are very nice... you can get a certificate sent to you but I think they now charge 40.00 for it.

No. 1998.5 was the only 1/2 year with the E1 suspension changes. Everything from then up is the same susp. wise. Returnless came into play in 99.

So, the suspension changed as well huh? uggggg. What can i check to see what one I have. The mutt car strikes again.

I didn't know you sold your Cougar :(...

yah.. and its currently for sale again by the new owner which saddens me the most.

All I miss is the paint job and all the carbon fiber.

Current plan is to obtain a used WRX before Winter hits as I want boost and AWD badly

Congrats! It's knauberized too.

Yep, 1-800-Ford-SVT. They will tell you the build date and build number. I think Crispy is correct on the price of the certificate, $40.
