Headlight warning chime

I am having an issue with my warning chime on a 99 Contour SE. If I open the door with the headlights on, there is no warning (and I am forgetful ). I looked in the manual and checked the fuse, which was ok. In fact, the key-in-ignition warning chime, which is on the same fuse, works absolutely fine (and I assume that they use the same chimey-generator, that's the technical term) so I don't think that it's gone bad. The only thing I can think of is that I had my headlights replaced, but I am unsure how that might affect it, if at all. Any ideas would be appreciated, as I have already had to have a couple of jumps because of this. Thanks.

open your driver's door and look on the bottom of the door jamb. find the black switch and give it a rough 5 or 6 times in and out. break up the likely build up on the inside of the switch. it that helps (or doesn't!) take the screws off the switch and inspect the wiring at the switch for corrosion or breakage.

It is probably your door switches. Do your over head lights turn on when you open the door? To fix this you take the screw out of the switch and clean it so it can make a good connection.

Now that you mention it, they don't work. I'll check on that when I get home, thanks.

Editing so as not to double-post: Cleaning it worked like a charm. Thanks again!
