Well a couple weeks ago I was driving on a back road, my road actually, doing about 40MPH when a deer jumped from the high grass on the passenger side and landed basically on my grill, flipped into the air about 10ft and then slammed into the ground and slid alongside me for about 50ft. I wasn't hurt and the airbags didn't deploy, in fact it hit right in the center of gravity and didn't even slow me down, but it destroyed my grill, cracked the bumper under the grill, broke all the plastic mounting tabs on both HLs (though they survived completely) crushed part of my hood and did some other damage to both front fenders. Luckily, it was covered under my comp. insurance and though the damage total came to $2,729 I only have to pay the $100 deductible, which I might not end up paying since the insurance company took it out of the check they sent and the guy I took it to decided to fix my passenger fender instead of replacing it. Well I took it in today, and in a couple of days I'll have a basically brand new front end! Unfortunately the only photos of the damage were taken on my cell phone in the dark as my camera is misplaced, but in a short time I'll have her back and she'll look better than ever. I'll post pics when I get it back, but thank god I wasn't hurt and the car was still driveable. I can't wait for some new clear HLs, and as soon as I get them, they are getting waxed.

So the fender is getting fixed? Finally!!

Glad to hear that everything is working out for you. Make sure to get some pictures when you get the car back. I want proof that the fender is fixed. ;)

Thanks Black 98, I'm pretty glad I wasn't hurt as well, it could have been much worse a makeover is what the car needs at 104K!

LUCA: I knew the fender would get fixed eventually, and I assumed I wouldn't be the one to do it, I don't know if you have seen pics of the damage to it but I have some on my computer downstairs, it's pretty bad though the guy I took it too is going to fix it. He asked me if I would mind and I said "Uh, no, if you can fix it go for it." Good luck to him! haha

Eventually, that's the key word.

No, I didn't see the pictures.

Well I got the car back last night before work but I have to wait for my bro to get back from work to borrow his camera, but I will say the car is pure sex, looks like it just rolled off the factory floor!

... I can't wait for some new clear HLs, and as soon as I get them, they are getting waxed.

I'm sure you know this but do not use carnauba wax on the headlights. It will yellow them over time and in the sun. Go with a pure synthetic wax like Klasse All In One and Klasse Sealant Glaze. Zaino is also a synthetic wax or if you want to get an off the shelf wax, Meguiars NXT

Yeah I have some NXT I was gonna use but thanks for the advice because I definitely did not know that! Can I wax this paint even though it's fresh? The guy who did it washed the car (maybe just rinsed the front where the paint is fresh) but I thought you weren't supposed to wash fresh paint for a couple months or so, but maybe it's waxing that you're not supposed to do? I'd like to wax it tomorrow if I can on the fresh paint. Here are the pics.

The infamous dent:

trying to show the blending, but got my shirtless self in the shot, as well as the coog in the windshield so I guess this one's for Kim:

I was going too, but then I figured it'd be a better idea to go pick up some extra hours at work to pay the deductible, and now it's bad out, but hopefully this weekend I'll wax it. I did notice there is some wax residue on the rubber of the new HL, so maybe he even waxed it there.

Yeah man it is disgusting outside. Let me know when you've got some free time, maybe we can get the cars detailed and some nice pictures taken. I'll drive out there if that works better, or maybe we can try to get some nice pictures in this spot by me (only without the ****ty sunlight ruining it):

I'm down with that it pretty much depends on when you're free since I only have to work mainly weekend nights, I just go in whenever I want to pick up extra hours, plus I still have that IMRC cover for you.

No dent, t'is a beautiful sight:

Looks great Dan!

Thanks christine, we'll have to go on a junkyard run soon and you can see it in person, and if Glenn needs a ride this time I'm down with it. You have no idea how happy I am about the dentless fender I now have, it hasn't looked that way since like a week after I got it over 2 years ago!

Once Ken is healed and able to walk that far, we'll have a junkyard meet, probably in Nov.
Can't wait to see the car in person. Looks good.
