stupid trunk key things

is anyone else's key trunk release retarded, why does it seem like these always freeze up and then it becomes worthless to try and open your trunk with a key. Its not really a big issue, just pisses me off from time to time.
I hate my whole trunk.
Not ONLY will the key will not work. Leaks like a mofo tried a seal it still leaks.. got to be 2 inches away to get it to pop with the remote.

Spoiled by the fob and the interior release, I so seldom (if ever) used the actual lock on the starboard side of the tail. When I tried it some time ago, I don't remember the results being particularly remarkable. I vote for shooting some PB Blaster in there -- might unstick it post haste.

i hate it and it's not worth the risk of breaking the only key i have. stupid PATS system costing a buttload for a key at a time.

When I was selling Fords, it was always a PITA if, say, we only had one key for a car and the customer wanted a second one, as they were $50 or $60 at the time. Most folks weren't clamoring to foot the bill on that deal.

Seriously, though. Try the PB. Put the little red straw in the lock and let 'er rip. After it sits for a while, try the key. If it doesn't open with moderate ease, show your dedication and just give up.

i just say, "**** it" i rarely need the key to open the trunk, but when i do it is annoying.

I only open my trunk with my key, because I have the trunk lock on (so nobody can steal from my trunk :)). Therefore, I always use the key, and I never ever have a problem. It's as smooth as a baby's bottom.

I use my key or the release on the inside of the car everyday to take off/ put the car cover on...The trunk release on the remote stop working a year ago....

If you really wanted to you could get a remote start module for your car and program your key, then you could use non PATS keys.... but then someone could hot wire your car as well since it would start without the PATS key...

The module I speak of is the 555F or 1100F from Directed.com
