Started 3L Swap today

Hey guys it's been like sence feb. of 2006 since i drove my CSVT last and now i have the Money to get a new motor for it .. im workin on getting my blown 2.5 out and gettin everything prepped .. and it has been about the same ammountof time from when i drove my car to when i was on here last so im a lot rusty about the 3L swap .. im not looking for huge power gains im not looking for any crazy work on the 3L to get it goin i honestly need a car to ride and rather than buying a new car i figured i would restore the CSVT and get her on the road again .... now don't get me wrong i love to run that car thats why the 2.5 crank bearing's went and i threw 2 rods but i just want the 200 hp driveable 3L and get going ASAP because time is miney with me .. just for a reality check i have a 27K mile 2002 taurus Duratec 3.0 from LKQ and it is possable to pretty much drop it in as is with just minor mods right ? maybe maybe not ? thats why im asking .. anyway i work from 11:00am to 9:30pm in Plant City Fl. and live in Lakeland Fl. so im gone from 10:15am to 10:00pm so i'll reply to any notes or pm's then. Also the 2.5 is like 1/4 of the way out i work on it day by day i would like to make this like a 2 week project if possable shorter ....... yeah i know it's a long shot ...
 
I see you in Lakeland FL Im in Cape Coral..Right nex to FT.myers..Buddy of mine is in Northport..Might have to get a little mini meet and BBQ oneday..Only after the 3L is done tho..LOL..Goodluck on the swap man..I hope i get to see it one day.
 
Update : well i have the 2.5 almost out and im reading a lot of the archives ... there is a lot. im glad i read or i would of been bent over on this swap ... thanks to everyone that posted there problems because im sure i'll have some of my own but i will post them im sure .. anyway so far im splicing the knock sensor on the 3.0 and i am still clueless about weather i wonna do a full swap or a hybrid my lim/uim are good the only thing thats wrong with the 2.5 is the bottom end ... so i have a lot of salvageable parts ... anyway if anyone has any good advice hit me up also if you have anything important enough call me after 10 pm est @ 863-595-6132 but you can post it on here as well that way everyone gets the full experience ....

hey im having a hard time getting the "A" arm off??? any sugestions this is like the last thing i need to do before the bottom half of everything is out... the problem isn't the bolt from the "A" Arm it's getting the "A" arm off of the strut tower should i try to compress the shock ??? any clue let me know it's a ***** i have never had any problems with an A arm before .... who knows .. thank for the help..... in advance
 
When you say bottom half are you dropping the sub frame? if you are you can leave that attached and just pull the top of the strut off.
 
WTF are you doing?!!!!! All you do is remove the pinch bolt and the axle nut. Then the ball joint has play. Grab a pry bar and push down to release the BJ. Then get and air chisel with point attachment to vibrate the axle out of the hub. Loosen the top of the strut a little so it can hang out of the way. Then pop the axles out of the trans. What are you new and you better have a a freakin manual that tells you all this!

Ha HA hey it's been since 2003 since i did any mechanic work im just rusty... on my ZX2 i just un did the bolt on the A frame the a frame droped and the axel pulled out of the tranny and bodda bing it was free lol ... anyway thanks for the advice ... i just got it off .. now for the pull everything is loose and it's suspended by the engine hoist ... well i made the hoist so pics comming soon ... oh i have a degree in aeronautical science not auto mechanics im just workin by prior experiences lol .. thanks for the advice ...
 
I gave the job of dropping the a arms while I was at work and it took him 3 nights (about 12 hours) of messing around with it so don't feel bad i think that was the hardest part of the swap. Other than me putting on the pulse wheel wrong and having to pull the front cover with the engine was in the car.
 
hey well i actually did drop the A arms and it took 5 min each side after i had to step back calm down and stop beathin on them lol .... well this is the 3.0 L i got from LKQ im really on a budget with 3 kids a new job so getting my CSVT on the road is the biggest priority speed and style are not on my top 5 list i mean they are like # 6 and 7 but not in the top 5 lol .. did anyone have any thing they would of done different that could of saved them money or time on because like most of us on here time and money are # 1 and 2 on our list of things to do wisely... anyway i know not to forget to do the pulse wheel but any thing else before i take the long haul ???

yeah i probably could of but not for 300 bucks 45 minutes from my house i had 1 quoted in tampa about 25 min from the house at 675.00 with 21K but too damn expensive for my needs i just need it to run lol and get me to and from work lol .. but on the upside i did get the engine today and it looks goos and all im just sweatin this drop / swap

hey i know this is all in the archives but i like new responses because i see a lot that is very contradictive but from anyone who has done a full 3.0 swap i mean the entire 3.0 not to worried about svt parts on it but i have the old motor if needed .... #1 so i took off the alternator bracket from the 2.5 and i need to see how to get it on the 3.0 ??? #2 i have the escape fuel rail so thats done .. #3the egr tube is covered as far as the braising " found great pics ... " #4 the "ears" i cut off for the alternator does anyone have pics i can't find em but i am looking in between work and the car and my kids and sleep lol .... but if im missing anything let me know it's 3:15 am here in fla for me so im tired but thanks hope to finish soon i will have pics when done ...

Along with the instructions posted by 96BlackSE, the guide most helpful during my straight swap was Todd and Stazi's. Checkout the pictures! The "straight" swap is not at all straightforward. Because of this, you are better off using the 2.5L UIM. No fabrication will be required. If you don't want to port-match the heads, then consider buying the LIM sold by BurritaSVT of Nautilus Performance.

I don't believe anything is forsale yet as far as that LIM.

She is alive at 11:48pm (Tuesday) 8/21/07 she ran rough .. maybe because the gas is like 19 months old but it's running great now a little loud but i don't have the exhaust hooked up... but one last question where do i hook up the break booster vacume hose i havn't did that yet so the breaks suck ???
