OBD 402 Again

I have a 99 2.5L Contour sport 69k. Recently I got the CE light. The code was 402. Too much recirculated burned engine gas at idle. I replaced the pressure valve per this forum. I reset the codes and the light was gone for a bit. Now it's back. What other things could cause this error? Would a sticky EGR valve cause this without the EGR codes? Can the EGR be cleaned? If so how?

Has anyone run Seafoam through thier systems to clean this sort of stuff? It worked on my s10 Blazer.

Rebuilding the intake manifold will not, in itself, make any difference with a P0402 code.

Either your DPFE sensor is faulty or the EGR valve is not closing completely due to either carboning or due to faulty vacuum control of the valve.

Troubleshoot it properly so you know what the proper repair procedure should be and so you can repair it correctly the first time.

Thanks Steve. I pulled the MAF and did the clean on it and the air intake. Lot's of gunk in there. So far not code return.
