i have a 98 contour with the 2.5L and i have noticed the power level going down so i Hollowed the 3rd cat out and now the check engine light is on and its in open loop and its getting a lean O2 code what can i do to fix is. if anyone could help that would be great thanks

Need to get the CEL codes read. Then post the exact codes. MisterTransmission used to read them free. Not sure if they still do.

if you gutted the third cat, by which I have to guess you mean the main cat which is about under the center console this would have no caused your CEL or any other issues ...

check that your secondaries are still working and concider an intake rebuild to clean them out ...

Unless your main cat is clogged, hollowing out the main cat will slow exhaust velocity which we all know decreases hp.
