I've had my 98 SVT for about 2 months now after buying it from my uncle. The contour forums helped me fix the tailight issue, and I've been loving every minute of my SVT. Until recently.... I noticed that my engine is starting to rev while I engage my clutch. I will give two examples and see if they help:

Going down the road about 35-40 in 4th gear approaching a stoplight. Light is red, so I stick the clutch in to begin downshifting - but I notice that when I push my clutch to the floor, and my foot is all the way off the gas and the engine starts to rev at like 3,500 rpm's. and continues to rev.... :(

Next, im on the freeway approaching the offramp with another stoplight. I'm in 5th gear slowing down and my RPM's drop to like 2,000 so i stick the clutch in ready to goto 4th, and the engine revs up again.

I'm really confused, because its not there 100% of the time but when it is there it is extremely noticeable. Any ideas?

So, after learning what my issue was I thought: ok great, it can be fixed - but it will have to wait until I have more time on my hands or until it gets worse. however, today my check engine light came on. Is it possible this issue has something to do with my check engine light? I'm going to auto zone tomorrow to get it scanned, but if anyone has any thoughts let me know.

Can't assume the check engine light, you need to have the code dumped. If you don't have a reader go AutoZone they usually do it for free.

happens to me too intermitently. But from wot the others on da site have said, theres little or no damage caused. i think ford just got a little over enthusiastic on some of the cars. mine has done that for almost 3yrs now.
