I recently purchased a 2000 SVT Contour (after I had to give up my 95 GL), everything was working when I purchased the car. But all of the sudden I keep blowing Fuse 33 for the drivers side parking lights, not seeing any broken\worn wires anywhere, the passenger side lights work perfectly, turn\hazards\brake work fine also. I have searched the old forums and didn't find anything that helped much. Anyone have any ideas???

Welcome. Are you sure it is Fuse 33? Maybe it is Fuse 35. Check the wiring.

Check the wiring loom that runs by the driver side below the rear quarter panel. When you push down the rear seat (on the driver side), you should see the wiring loom which goes to the back. Sometimes, some of wires get chaffed due to the seat being pushed up and down.

Yup, sure it's 33, 35 is fine. Will do, how if it is the loom how easy is it to repair\what's it cost to have it repaired? Also, per James' reply, how do I remove the switch?

I hope this isn't the beginning of more problems. My 95 GL 4cyl, 5spd was a dream, no problems until the clutch went at 145K...

I sent a PM with a link to Autozone's free repair manual with pictures of the head light switch. I also wrote out a little step by step removal of the headlight switch panel. No need to actually take the headlight switch out out the panel.

Thank you both, I was able to get the light switch pulled out (trim plate) so that I could check the wiring there, and found the loom in the rear. Unfortunently, it does not appear there are any damaged wires anywhere (at least what I was able to access). Looks like a trip to the dealership.
