Boredom+left over materials from my headliner.

My battery was relocated to my trunk, via TGO before I bought it. It had the Optima Stlye Aerospace Component holder that's made out of Billet Aluminum. I guess time wore the shine out of it, and I wanted to hide the battery anyway...so I made a little black box. Literally.

Here's the test fit after measuring and cutting.

I wasn't too sure which material to use after I had bonded the foam to the wood.

I chose the left.

Making sure it all fits in (I had to coax it in with a dead blow hammer).

And...the lid, which I have no idea how to attach.

The material wasn't clean in the picture, but a damp rag will clean it up nicely. I just want to let the glue cure before clean up..

I THINK your supposed to have some airflow to the battery, maybe drill some holes.

You can't see it, but I have about a 1 inch gap on the side that faces the front of the car.

yes...gel cell are sealed...only vented batteries need air flow and should not be mounted in the car.

to get the lid to stay on, just use velcro around the top of the box, and put the other side of the tape along the bottom of the lid corners

or make another lid with a bevelled top

I was actually thinking of doing what they have in Bentley's. A luggage Strap.

Essentially, it's just a belt...so I found something I like.

I think it'll match the whole black leather look I have going on, a bit gothic...but it'll look good. :laugh:

Do like any other battery box... drill two holes in your lid, one on either edge, and run a threaded post through it. attach the bottom of the threaded post to your box walls, or the floor, and then secure the lid via wingnuts, or the like.

I remember a CEG'er had a funny smell from a failed gel cell in the trunk, probably should leave breathing holes.
