No power and surging

1995 2L 168,000 miles almost dies after a cold start and has lost its pep. I get 172 EGO lean bank #1, only on tests. I took it by to see if it could be the Catalitic converter. He wasn't sure (with his tests too)but reccommended the fuel filter. I replaced it but did not help. I was told by dealer that the O2 sensor would not make it loose power. There are some spots on the pedal position that at different speeds is better. I (in the past) replaced the sensors: EGR vlv, throttle, egr flow, and fixed the crank sensor wires(bad connectors). The transm has troubles deciding on which gear while you are trying to find good pedal position too. Is it O2 sensor, or cat, or ????
 
get a fuel pressure gauge on it and see what your fuel pressure is at idle. also do a quick snap of the throttle and see what it goes to. check your plugs and wires as well. oh and check to make sure you can here the fuel injectors ticking. it wont gaurantee that they are moving enough fuel but it does tell you that they are working.
 
I checked the plugs and wires and they are Good. I hear the injectors, but after that I turned it off and checked the oil THEN it would not Start. Been a while since it did that. The Tests showed only OSS 461 as I remember on KOEO. I reset the codes and could not get it again and it still did not start.
This morning, the first try failed but started then died. The third it started and acted OK. Now what?? I do not trust it to get me home.
