Yesterday I said goodbye to the best car I ever owned., my 98 Mystique (V6 LS). It gave in to old age and has been replaced by a one year old V6 Milan.
Except for two alternators this was a trouble free car that never failed to put a smile on my face when I turned it on and hit the throttle.
I guess my main observation is how poorly Ford handled the marketing of these cars. The whole time I owned it folks would ask me what it was. I would always answer tha it was the best car no one knows about.
Just because I'm lazy , I left the Kenwood head unit , Pioneer 6x8s and Bazooka sub in it and I hope some youngun (I'm 59) will buy it , give it a little TLC and drive on!
In the meantime this Milan is giving me the same great feelings! BTW , this forum has been a great help over the years. Thanks to all of you.

I was thinking the Milan/Fusion (or Mazda 6) might be the most like the Mystiques. The engine is the 3.0 Duratec. What is wrong with your Mystique?

Nothing

Nothing

Just got a litle old. I just put second alternator in it and after 9 years you begin to worry about the trans and stuff. It will probably go a few more years but I got the "new" car bug. The Milan is kind of the Mystiques successor . A little more upscale and of course the Duratec v6 puts out 221HP!

Well the Milan is obviously the Mystique successor, its the CD3 platform, which is what the newer mondeos basically are. And Since the mondeo was the Contour/Mystique's over seas cousin.

Im excited for the newer Fusions when they start to get the duratec35.

mmm 260 horses :D
