Hey all,

So I posted my problem in the transaxle forum. Basically I lost 1st, 3rd, and 5th gears. 2nd, 4th, and R still work. I need recommendations for transmission places in the metrowest area, Framingham, the 'boroughs, etc.

If those are the only gears you lost, then it is most likely your shift cable. A tranny shop is probably going to rape you for something that shouldn't be that hard to repair.

Mine did that too, but wouldn't stay in reverse. It might be a small adjustment on the cable, and I would bring it to someone who wont rape you. It's a 20 minute fix.

I don't want to be raped! It sounds painful.

I have an appointment at AAMCO in Framingham on Monday. But I'll check out the cables tomorrow so I can go in there with some knowledge.

What's it like to drive a 2000? Must accelerate differently.. hmm.. Hey you going to the meet on the 10th?

the opposite happened when my cables let go, i only had 1,3,5th...cables cost like $80 and labor was $270...i tried doing it myself 3 weekends in a row...not an easy job, the shop i always bring my svt to were not pleased to say the least, haha, i owed the mechanic a box of bandaids cause his hands were so cut up

WTF?! Accelerate differently?!:help:

Okay. I'm a little sick of you. Do you not know that between 1998, 1999, and 2000 there's small differences between all the motors all three years.
The main difference between 1999 and 2000 is that the Displacement is dropped and the compression is raised. So, that might change the torque curve, meaning it could pull differently at different RPMs. I'm sorry if I sounded so stupid, but to my limited knowledge of the Ford vehicles, and from my limited knowledge of most other vehicles.. I only knew that cars with different engines for different years could have slightly different drving characteristics...

Actually displacement only dropped in 2000, for EU regulations. The compression was upped to compensate. Stock for stock, I highly doubt you will notice a difference.

Yeah that's what I said, isn't it? I said they lowered the displacement and raised the compression.
Yeah I highly doubt you would feel a difference, but I wasn't being all that serious.
