I took my uncle's '07 C6 Z06 for a little spin on Saturday. The car has an MTI Racing Stage II package(ported heads/cam/headers/etc) making 550whp/500wtq. The car is basically retarded fast. I think it would probably be more fun from 100-200 than 0-100. At 5000rom you could feel the engine really wanting to stretch it's legs and it just doesn't let up no matter the speed. I'm guessing that it would trap in the low 130's in the quarter.

The steering was lighter than expected and the clutch sucked in my opinion. In that respect I liked the C5 Z06 better. The interior was laid out very well and seemed of pretty good quality. The HUD has a pretty cool G-meter and the nav was pretty sweet too. The car is smoothie and drives like a very fast luxury sportscar. The C5 Z06 I drive in an earlier thread was more violent and visceral.

My biggest complain was the gearing. It's just too long. With a set of 3.73s or 3.90s the car would be perfect.

PS: I was sitting in the passenger seat when my uncle completely embarassed an E60 M5. Not even a challenge.:laugh:

I was never a fan of Corvette's (build wise) until I drove my ex-girlfriends dad's C5 non-Z... Even that had a fun feel to it and you can feel a decent amount of power-- I love them now, and especially with the new body style... The new Z has to be rediculous, I can't wait to drive my buddies dad's lol

Corvettes IMO are the best bang for the buck..If you want a sporty 2 door coupe..Ive driven my buddys 98 with Borla exhaust and K&N intake that was fast enough for me..Factory HP is like no other, and there handleing is Beautiful

Even Jermey Clarkson from Top Gear loves it. He even had a thing as to why if an alien came from space and we had to explain why a Ferrrari that performs the same, looks the same etc, why it costs $300K vs the $80K for the vette. An american car that he loved...scary.

I also love on his old super car vs new super car episode how the new ones only have baby fox's coming out of the exhaust cause they are so enviro freindly.

11's in the 1/4 IS quick.... Thats what they run stock. I beleive ive seen something like an 11.9x out there on stock tires.

He also likes his Ford GT...

In fact, he loves a lot of fords.

I think this was more of a first for "first GM that he likes"

But I have to disagree respecfully, as he did in fact say "for something to live with daily, I would rather have bird flu" about the Z06.

Now he did say you are better off with a normal one if you didnt plan on doing any/many track days.

The ride wasn't harsh at all. I thought that it was pretty smooth in fact. I don;t know what people are talking about when they complain about the ride.

It feels about the same as my car did with the Koni Kit on full soft.

well that car does have a harsh drive, did the person you drove with punch it? If you were going regular speeds you prolly didnt feel anything. But once you step on the gas peddle harder, thats when a little rock on the road turns deadly and you are pretty much are glued to the ground. The ride is very rough and I dont know how they made this car street legal

I can't believe the base C6's have about the same performance as the C5 Z06's  At this rate.. imagine the base C7 having the same performance as the C6 Z06. Wild!

Actually GM has already said that it will. At least power-wise. It probaby won't have the lighter weight (in fact it will probably weigh more than a standard C6 does today due to GMs desire to further improve material quiality and aesthetics) and harsher drive; it'll be 'tamer' overall. But chances are good it will have the LS7 underhood standard. The standard C6 is already getting the LS3 in the next few months, that bumps it up another 30 horses right there, narrowing the gap and setting the stage for a 500hp standard C7.

Then the C6 "Blue Devil" (or whichever of the countless names the rumour-mill says is the current one) will probably end up being the C7 Z06. And GM will up the ante for a C7 special edition at which point they'll be knocking on the door of 800+hp in a factory production vehicle. Absolutely insane.

Look at the title.

My uncle let me take it out by myself. I had it pinned from a 5mph roll up through 3rd gear. I'm not the type of person to putt around in a 550whp car. ;)

Again, the ride was pretty smooth to me.

I drove a C5 Z06 a few months ago and my god, I pooped my pants. I wanted to get it sideways but of course the night the guy just said "here ya go man lets go drive" was friggen cop crazy night. But still I was doing 65 in like 2 seconds. Very smooth and extremely fast car. His had around 400 h.p. I can't imagine what 550 feels like.
