Cat Heat Shield....

So with my resonator removed, my exhaust was a little more vibrant, but my cat heat shield had rusted, and so it was rattling more than usual. So yesterday I put a host clamp on it, but still it seemed to rattle, so today I just worked it until it broke off.... Is there any adverse affects to doing this, or is it just for the safety of someone underneath the car?

I've taken them off of one car and had one fall off another on the highway :blackeye: with no adverse effects to either. I think they may help prevent fires if you park over brush or dry grass, altho that's just my speculation.

i've had mine off the ST for ages now after it fell off, cant really see why its needed and hasn't done my car any harm

Just don't park over some tall grass during the dry summers. :laugh:

The mechanic I go to recommended I pull it off. I decided to put a exhaust repair kit (strap and bolts from Victor 801).
