Ok, before anyone says anything I have already searched and found nothing. I need a how to remove the center of my 12/98 se grill. Well the real question is where do I make the cuts and where is the mesh supposed to sit in the grill. Just from looking at it now I cant tell where its supposed to go with it looking nice. I know its of subject but I have seen threads where it says to just scrap off the chrome around the circle and it will reveal a black finish. Well all I see is a white finish, or am I wrong. Please help. Thank you in advance.

there is how to in the old forums. very nice how to i can look it up once i get home form work in the morring. umless you find it first. putting mesh in is not a hard job. i have done a few grills now, all with different style mesh.

My grill is different than the one in the illustration. Thats why I wanna know if its the same concept as far as cutting away at the grill. In a nut shell will it look ok on the se grill? IT seems to me like the mesh would sit to far back on the oval for it to look sharp. Or am I wrong?

yes you are wrong. i bought a SE grill because they are so much cheaper than the svts. just cut all the SE grill bars out. i used wire cutters then a dremel so smooth it out. the mesh goes between the chrome oval and the black oval you will create. the black oval created by cutting out the bars. hope this helps.

when your done it should look somthing like this:

Thank you this is exactly what I was looking for I really apreciate it.

what if we want to take the original grill off to repaint the rim, but want to re-attach the original grill. The back has these plastic tabs that are melted to keep the grill on. If you unmelt them to get the grill out, then how to you put it back on?

screws. drill them out and put in screws.

alright.... I'll have to try it. I think the silver paint will look much better than the chrome. Anyone have pics of a silver CSVT with silver grill rim? That would kick a$$

Can the gutter mesh be found at Lowes or Home Dept? I went to Ace hardware but they dont carry it. The other two stores are a good drive away and i dont want to go if they arent going to have any. Thanks

How do you all seperate the two parts? Thats where im stiil lost. Do you cut where the heat weld points are? Thanks
