I've been holding off on the Hightower Headlight mod until I know if I would be able to replace the amber reflector with a clear one.

The only way I can think to do this would be to buy some generic clear reflectors, stencil the shape and cut it out with a dremel or something like that.

Anyone else done something like this? if so... you got some pics of the finished product?

as far as I remeber no on ehas replaced the reflector they just remove it and ihmo it doesn't look good at all ...

you talking about leaving the reflector off or the whole mod altogether? I think that the mod looks best if the Headlights are color-matched to the car. That's just me.

Buy one of those plastic sheet covers for lights in offices. You know, the plastic that's rippled and covers the tube lights. Cut it to shape and toss it in there....superglue it in, and you should be all set. It flex's easily so it would bend into shape fine.

I had always thought that hightowered lights would look good with a reflector painted silver and a reflective coating painted over that. idk tho

i removed mine and it looks great, and up close you might think it looks bad just because you can see that little square notch, but it really looks fine, i get tons of complements on them.

I know somebody did this for sure. I dont recall his name though.

do you know HOW he did it?

I like the Office light cover idea. I'll see what I can find.

I cant seem to find a generic clear reflector that is big enough to stencil the shape from. Plenty of amber and reds though.

I also had another question.....

So baking the lights loosens the Ford adhesive enough to open the headlight assy. I get that. What if i wanna re-open them later?

Wouldn't something like high-temp RTV have a WAY higher "melting" (not really MELTING, but you get what I mean) point then the 275 degrees??

If you RTV it you can just pull it apart with a screw driver and no heat. RTV seals decently but doesnt hold all that well

Really? It still seals OK though right? No Moisture?

What would be a better alternative then what's in the How-to?

Tools Needed
-Pair of gloves, mechanic gloves worked fine for me
-T10 torx bit or torx screwdriver
-7mm wrench (if you plan to take entire headlight apart)
-Multiple flat head screwdrivers (I mainly used two a small length #1 head and a medium length #2 head)
-2 flat cookie sheets or equivlent
-Standard kitchen oven
-High temp black silicone RTV
-4 wood clamps, 2 for each headlight
