Need Suspension

Hey guys,

The suspension on my svt is shot. I'm planning on replacing all 4 springs / struts at once.

First question is, if I'm planning on staying at stock ride height what are the pros / cons of getting OEM parts vs. aftermarket?

What good aftermarket options are there? I've read some stuff on here about koni and bat. If I want to stay at stock ride height are they options?

Um, and, what other maintanance is good to do when replacing struts / springs??

Thanks!

I am looking for suspension also, I do know Bat kit is about a 25-30mm drop

And the Koni sport kit is a 40mm drop but for the SVT model it says it will lower it slightly less, so I am assuming 25-35mm maybe?

If you want to stay at stock ride height then just reuse the stock springs.
I went with BAT's Bilstien struts with their rear sway bar and reused my stock springs. The car rides firmer but not stiff. That's a function of the struts. The car handles great, even on HP all season tires. THe understeer is gone and I can induce a bit of oversteer if I lift the throttle in the middle of a turn(off/on ramp). I wish I have the money to put on a set of performance tires on it with set of wider wheels. It's a DD and I need to save my money for my road racing project.

Yea, I've decided to replace it with all stock stuff. Gonna cost half what I paid for the call when it's all said and done.

4 x Spring
4 x Strut
4 x sway bar end links
4 x upper strut bearing

(talked myself out of LCA because left one has ridiculous labour)

+ misc hardware
+ labour!
+ alighnment

ARG.

If your suspension is shot as you say, I'd have a look at your control arms. I just had the struts replaced on my car (130K), and the mechanic discovered (as I assumed) that the control arm bushings were shot.

Problem now is he tried to get the Mondeo arms (check my location), and apparently they don't fit, so I'm looking at buying them from Bat.

$.02

Yea, I didn't include them in the quote I got. But I spoke to the mechanic and he will inspect all the components and alert me to any problems outside the scope of the quoted work.

I really hope they're ok!

Do you mind sharing the quote?
Parts cost and Labour?

Ive got a 96 LX that the suspension is getting weak I think.

I heard that there is a guy in MI that does all the work on the canadians contours and is amazing at it. Even with LCA's and the gas price ill be less than the mechanic will charge you just for the suspension. :)

Who would be crazy enough to drive from Canada to have you work on their car  .

You know what it cost for the basic setup. When you know what you want you knw where to find me :)

i to am going to replace my suspension but, and can someone make a complete list of stuff to get. (to properly lower) but i've never heard of any issues with the lca is it the bushings or does the arm get bent?

go see TH in rockford, mi one hour free labor on struts if you bring yer own. and a good lesson on maintaining yer vehicle. nice man. call 'em first to see if it still applies!

Warning! Shameless plug alert...

I know "someone" who may have the front sway bar end links with new nuts(the good, all aluminum ones) available for a decent price. hehehe.
