Hey guys,

The suspension on my svt is shot. I'm planning on replacing all 4 springs / struts at once.

First question is, if I'm planning on staying at stock ride height what are the pros / cons of getting OEM parts vs. aftermarket?

What good aftermarket setups are readily available in our area?

Um, and, what other maintanance is good to do when replacing struts / springs??

Thanks!

Staying stock or going aftermarket can be a judgement call, but if you're looking to stay at the stock height, stock may be the way to go. The Motorcraft components can be had cheaply enough -- I got mine through Steve at Tousley Ford. In addition to struts (whether or not you have to do springs will have largely do to with corrosion and whether or not a sag is present), you might want to do the rest of your suspension as well:

Strut mounts
Strut bearings (front)
Sway bar end links
Bar bushings
Lower control arms (front)

This will tighten up your car considerably from its current state, and quiet it down lots, too. Enjoy!

Oh yes. The springs need to go. One of the rears is broken. The other could break at any second. The fronts are pretty rotten as well and will not last another year.

Doing the entire suspension is a good idea.

I've read some things about replacing the rear subframe with a stronger one? And something else about boxing in the rear strut tabs?

Are either of these worthwhile ideas?

Look in the GB thread there is a GB going on. The Koni kit is $799 (springs and Koni struts). Not an aggressive drop and you will still be able to drive your car without a problme :).

Hey, I noticed you're in burlington and have 3L swap. Did you do that yourself or have a shop do it? Is there a shop or person in the area who can do it?

And if you don't mind saying... end to end, what does that cost?

I see a black SVT at appleby go station sometimes. Is that yours? If so, be careful. My car was broken into and the stereo got jacked a few weeks ago from there.

I got 96BlackSe to do my current swap. What colours is your SVT? No that is not mine at the GO. My SVT is the black one with dark gunmetal 18s red calipers and a mirko splitter.. If you want to meet up soemtime let me know I'm always up for a cruise and I can bring you my price lsit of what my swap cost me and different options you can take.

Mine's silver.

Yea, would be cool to find out more info on the swap and check out your car. I may do it next winter.
