so today i got a straight pipe to put on in the place of the resonator and i jacked my car up, little do i know that i need bigger jacks because my punie one from sears cant jack the car up as much as id like, especially because i also have a big gut! anyways with very little room to work i visually put the pipe up and the in/out of the stock exhaust looked offset, so the straight pipe would not work, so i figured someone would have said something about that, so am i seeing things or is the resonator offset? and is there a do it your self way to get that litlte bend?

so am i on crack or what?

Well i wouldnt say your on crack..I dont believe its offset i have a Highflow Muffler in place of the stock Resonator MagnaFlow 14415 FTW..But back to your Question it should be a straight cut out and weld up the new pipe check lengths etc. Dont want your exhaust screwed up like mine is, it rattles on the heat sheild by the gas tank.

Well my local shop did it for 30bucks..And did a 30dollor job its no biggie tho for me im installing a cat-back here in the next few months..Look to spend no more than70dollors.

I got my resonator removed by a shop. I started to do it myself but i did have a welder and i didn't want to use the clamps. The shop charged me 30 bucks to cut the resonator out and add new pipe. It didn't needed to get offsetted. If you want to do it yourself the bend your own offset and put it on. It might be better to take it to a shop though. It's easier and cleaner.

yep but ill just have to wait a while because i have no shifter and im waiting for a new one. the ebay shorty gave up the fight with my teenage driving....

im not sure for you car but just look under your car and look for a retanglar looking box. Start from the front of the car you should see the cat converter first then a little farther down you should see the resonator. mine was straight but then again i have a 95. All you need to cut is about 2 inches away from the resonator on each side to add new pipe. Pm me if you have more questions

so is the resonator offset or what?

To answer your question... Yes... it is... it's offset by about 3in measuring from the center on one end, to the center on the other end.... I got a 2 ft straight pipe from Farm and Fleet and had them expand the ends to fit a 2.25in outside diameter for like just under $7. We had to take it down to the farm and use a pipe bender to get it offset... which I kinda should of had farm fleet to it now that I think about it, but idk if they could or not.... Would of been nice to of had it mandrel bent to a 3in offset.... oh well... I got pics an everything, my dad and I did the whole thing in about 2-3 hours last night. We dropped it, measured for cut, cut the resonator, hung it all back under the car, put the pipe in, tacked in where we wanted it, pulled it all back out, finished the welds, painted it, and then put it all back in.... I like it, it's got a little deeper sound to it, it's noticeable, but not over the top different sound.... Someone who's looking for a really big sound difference might want to do what my brother did, and get a single magnaflow muffler before the Y and then just have tips on it.... his sounds really great! (SVT_22), for now though, this price and time, works perfect for me, I don't have the money to spend on getting a whole big exhaust system....
