Emissions requirements

Just wondering if someone can clarify something for me.

When you get your emissions tested do you only need:
a) catalytic converter
b) catalytic converter + muffler
c) whatever came from the factory

I looked up the emissions website and only saw that you would be told to fix your car if you either had a safety problem or were missing your cat. converter.

I am looking to do the exhaust up, so I do not want to include a set up that would give me pains when I have to get my car checked next year.

Pretty sure you need what came from the factory. However it is near impossible to detect if the pre cats are gone if MIL's are installed. Heck you could hollow out the cat and put a straight pipe in it but chances are you would not pass the sniffer then.

as long as you have a main cat...no holes in your exaust and muffler (both are done with the visual inpection)

Bah who needs a main cat! Get the car good and hot and you will pass I know I did, but then again I could have just gotten lucky.

Yep . I took the car on a really good run and then left it running, ran insde the place and got them to bring it on. The car blew numbers as clean as a new car .
