Quick question about keys. I was told by a freind a while ago, when he went to Ford to get another set of keys for his car that it would be a good chunk of change because it has a chip in the head of it. They said you can tell which ones do, because the key ring part of it is off to the side. I noticed my 95 is dead center on the key, but my 98 SVT is off to the side. Does this mean there is a chip in there?
 
All 98-00 V6 Contiques have a chip in the key.

How many keys do you have? If you have 2, you can buy one, have it cut and program it yourself. If only 1 key, you need to have a dealership or locksmith do it.
 
I have two sets of keys. It was one of those things I noticed when I was looking at the keys and was wondering if it was true. So, if I was to get a remote start for the car I would need a key hidden somewhere near the dash, right?
