Well, this has happened to me two times, both when i have my clutch in and am moving...My car decides to just shut off, i lose powersteering and everything. Then the Battery light, Check Engine light and Oil Pressure light come on. Then, nothing happens so i turn the car back on and drive away as if nothing ever happened.
Any suggestions to this freakish thing that is happening to my CSVT?

Thanks in advance

_Ben

It's funny that you say that b/c just the other night my SVT did that. It just quit out of no where. I was slowing down from about 45-50 to make a left and it just quit. Every once in a while last summer it would quit when I would come to a stop sign, but it never had any pattern to it, it would just quit at random. After a while it stopped doing it so I just assumed that maybe it was crappy gas. Anyone else ever experience this?

i have a friend who has the same exact thing happening to her hyundai sonata. shes got major electrical problems. i hope u dont have the same thing :-(

Yes.

well, good thing my Ford isnt Foreign Sh*t!

hahaha good call. shes got so many probs with her car. lol its a v6 and shes been running on probably only 110 horses if shes lucky, with so many electrical probs with her spark plugs and other crap. but what can u expect out of a first car? haha.

Tony and Rawburt -- right on. Exactly what I would have said. Nice job with the picture, man -- going the extra mile.

BigBEN -- Its a cake walk. There are only two bolts and the electrical connector you can see in the picture. You might have to to move some of the EGR / vacuum components to get in there easily, but its no big deal. I needed an IAC in a pinch back when mine went, and think I spent about $85 for it. I've no doubt you could get a better price out there.

Yea for a crappy non Ford part.

No way, man -- never. I always buy Motorcraft when given a choice, and would recommend that same approach to everyone. If I'm wrong about the price, so be it -- I was reaching back into the ol' memory a bit, but I don't think I'm far off. I used a local parts store that I like a lot, but places like Tousley Ford stand a good chance of besting their numbers, on balance.

my SVT has done the same a number of times. I want to clean the IAC, but I can't seem to reach the bolts.

I'd just replace it. Mine didn't go until 100K -- this shouldn't be a frequent problem. From memory, I removed the EGR vacuum solenoid for a little extra clearance, and had no problems.

And that would be the round black thing on top of the hand, slightly to the left of the top center of the picture.

Did you change the IAC yet?
The IAC is getting changed in my car next week. The car has stalled three times now, very randomly. A month or two in between stalls.

At least you can start yours right back up. I have to take my key out of the ignition and go through a "series of events" to get mine to start back up (kill switch). Let me tell you, that's not fun when you are in the middle of traffic!! :blackeye:

Anywho, I was just curious to see if you got yours replaced and how things were.
