I read on a rebuild writeup of the 3L that they came with forged cranks and forged rods, anyone know about the internals? What kind of HP are the rods, crank, and pistons good up to? When something goes what is the first to go? What are the best years of the 2.5L and 3L?

EDIT: Heres the article I referenced:

2000 is the best year for the 2.5L. 2001+ is the best year for the Escapes. You can read about the piston durability thread in the FI FAQ that I wrote up. First thing to go are the pistons. Rods have shown to support over 400 whp. Nobody has yet to break a rod. Crank has shown to support over 1200 whp.

What I am hearing is sure Kyle (<- my name obviously) its ok to turn up the RPM a bit on your planned 3L contour swap. What RPM do you guys usually turn? I dont mind upgrading the fuel system but dont plan to run FI other than a 75 shot. I will be running alcohol so detonation is not really an issue here. Octane rating will be over 93 with nitrous activated, 87 just putting around town, higher than 87 under heavier throttle. Upgraded clutch and LSD are fairly likely I am not skimping much on the budget for this swap. Just need a fairly reliable fairly quick daily driver that I dont have to starve to put gas and insurance into.

If thats something that normally breaks on these cars than yes those as well. Is it? If so is it because of wheel hop or are they just not friendly to dead hookers?(lol)

I've personally never had an issue with my half shafts. I don't stay in the throttle if I'm wheel hopping, although it seems that a lot of others do(broken half shafts). For the money, I'd stick with OEM shafts, or there's an OE aftermarket company that makes them, and you can pick them up through Advance Auto I believe. I think they even come with a lifetime warranty.
As for the budget, I guess I don't see how you can justify spending $500 for a set of half shafts, but don't want to break yourself by spending the extra $2.50 at the gas pump. Sure you can get away with 87 octane, but why? And saying you'll go to premium when you want to go full throttle? I don't think you could go a full tank of gas without wanting to go full throttle!

Unless your planning on running drag radials or slicks, id stick with OEM axles since you wont be able to put the power to the ground anyways with any turbo application.

2-Stage Alcohol Injection FTW.
