I went down to my garage and ...

You didn't even start her up? Looks like it's time for a meet.

Repeat after me...I <3 my SVT, I will drive my SVT, I will keep my SVT.

I'm really sad.

i dunno what you're holdin' on to man. just drive the car...you're just wasting it. it aint gonna last forever no matter what you do...might as well enjoy it.

I won't be holding onto anything much longer , I'm afraid . I'm not trying to make it last forever , that's not my intention - never was . I just like to have a nice car . Having bought this one new , it gave me a clean slate to start with , and I guess it just got outta hand . I could NEVER press this car into daily use - it just wouldn't be right . I didn't keep it pristine for some d!^kweasel to dent it up in a WalMart parking lot :nonono: . I have too much respect for the car to let it get all dented up like every other jo-schmo Contour out there . I've driven it over 4k this year (will be nearly 5k at inspection) - that's pretty good for me . I think it's time for someone else to enjoy it .

It serves no purpose sitting in the garage is all i'm saying. You can't keep anything perfect forever. I'm not saying you should run it into the ground, but it's a total waste to keep it locked away and never used either.

You think any of the designers of the car intended for it to be locked away and never driven?? It's a drivers car!!!

Still, hopefully you'll find a good replacement.

There are many people out there who "waste" their cars far worse than me ;) . I've built cars for people who've spent 3x their worth that don't put 500 miles on 'em a year . Now THAT's a waste  !
I've enjoyed the car - and still enjoy the car . You don't have to DRIVE a car to enjoy it . There's always the thrill of just owning a great-looking car . I have a friend who's restored vintage sports cars that have never even turned a tire on the road - he says he just enjoys looking at them in the garage .

I've got a few replacement ideas . Whether or not I'll be able to afford them is another thought ...
If not , we've at least got the Jettas . Once my Volvo's on the road , we'll have that too .

I find i have more respect for the classic/exotic car owners who drive the cars.

if you just wanna look at it, you coulda saved a bunch of money and taken a picture lol!

NOW ya tell me :troutslap: !!!!!

Usually I'm a "drive 'em if ya got 'em" guy too , but this car turned into something different . The first couple years we had the SVT we put nearly 25k on it . The rest of the time it's been only a couple thou a year . My Volvo will be a daily driver , that's for sure :) !

Oh the torture I'd put you through if I ever bought it.

Are you still workin on the Rat rod volvo??? That's a ride I want to see. Still, I'd miss not seeing your car @ Carlisle, it was the first one I saw my first time I was there. My brother Geoff was like," Whoa, look at THAT!" Then Allen made fun of my dirty wheels.

LOL @ Scott :D :D !!

Yup , I'm still gonna do the rat rod . Right now the car's at my friend's house down in his barn - it got snowed-in this winter before I had a chance to get it home :( . I've gotta wait for the ground to firm-up a bit to bring it back , so it doesn't get sunk in to the axles going over his creek , lol :D . Right now , I'm gathering parts , so when it comes home (very soon) , I can just start kicking on it . I've got some plans for it , believe me ! Once it's home , I'll shoot pics in progress ...
