Do you mean the Check Engine Light (yellow) or the Engine oil light (red)?

If CEL (yellow), check your gas cap. If Engine oil light (red), check/change your engine oil.

Sometimes a loose cap can cause the check engine light to come on. The CEL goes off after a few starts. Note if the CEL is flashing, you have a engine misfire and should get the engine checked out immediately.

Check for bad Spark Plugs (or gaps or wiring), plugged exhaust, etc.

A loose fuel cap cannot cause a CEL on a 95 since it doesn't perform any sort of EVAP leak test.

You need to read the codes in order to identify what the computer s complaining about. Guessing won't work as there are dozens of possibilities for faults.

The codes on a 95 can be pulled with nothing more than a paperclip. See www.fordfuelinjection.com for a primer. Instructions might be around here somewhere, but I don't recall having seen them.

from experiense with my fathers 95 a cel that is cycling somewhat randomly is most likely an oxygen sensor, use the above paper clip test and "read" the codes from the blinking of the CEL and let us know what the codes are
