I had my check engine light pop up and I scanned the computer. It gave me a miss fire on cylinder #3. I replaced the wire and nothing changed. I replace the spark plug and it is running better but I still get a little missfire(usually in the moring). The plug was cover in a white hard sustance. The other problem is the check engine light is flashing while driving and then it goes out so cannot I read the engine code.

1999 SVT contour 5 speed. 160 000KMS!

Any help would be appreciated.

A flashing CEL means engine needs immediate attention. A misfire is not good for the Cat. convertor, engine dumps raw fuel from misfiring cylinder thru it causing temps to rise possibably dammaging it.
Did you replace just ONE plug and ONE wire?
Is the engine due for a tune up?

Unfortunately, the P0303 misfire could be due to a lot of different things. Check for Cylinders 3 and 4; sp wires, spark plug gaps and fuel injectors.

Injector

Injector

I was thinking of doing an injector cleaning but I heard that they are not worth the money.?

Check plugs and plug wires first..If ones Sp is bad replace all not just one..Same with Wires. As for injector cleaner last time i went to the oil change place they put some injector cleaner in my car not sure if it was suppose to help or what.

if you already changed the plug and the wire... then pick up a used coil pack...i had this same problem on mine cylinder #2 misfire and i changed the plug and the wire and it turned out to be the coil pack was bad...i picked up a used one off of a v6 mustang for like $20...there is a way to check to see if you coil pack is bad by testing the resistance

P0301, P0302, P0303 ahhhh

P0301, P0302, P0303 ahhhh

So i did the 3.0l conversion and then i got the CEL. I scanned it and got P0301,02, and 03. When i did the conversion i kept SVT top end and put in new plugs, but the wire were relatively new. I also put in a new crank and cam sensor and checked all wiring. I am down to the assumption that the coil pack is bad, comp is messed up, or that the cams on that side are slightly off. Anythoughts?
