just clean off everything really well and wait for a while until the leak comes back, then just follow the fluid to the source

Go buy a new cap. Cap is weak and when the system has pressure (hot) it leaks. Good idea to rinse off everything good and check for other problems. $10.00 bucks should cure your problem.

Put the drugs down.

And go invest in a Ford Service manual or CD.

fixed .... to many people have complained that the Chilton's manual was wrong or not accurate .... not that the Ford manual doesn't have mistakes but on the whole it has been pretty accurate ...

Go buy a new cap.

No!!! :nonono:

Don't spend money if you don't have to. Top off the fluid to appropriate levels when the car is cold, and then take it for a drive to warm the system to normal operating temperature. Pull back in to your drive, shut down the car, open the hood, & wait a few minutes. While there is no fluid circulation and air flow over the radiator, there will be a temporary spike in coolant temperature & system pressure. That is when you'll see where the leak is coming from.

The advice to check out for other leaks is good and was recommended in my original post. If the leak is only when the system has pressure the weak link is usually the cap. After you let additional coolant leak onto the engine and the ground please clean up completely unless you want to kill the local pets and wildlife. Animals seem to like the taste of antifreeze. The cost of the cap is generally less than the cost of a gallon of antifreeze. Good luck with locating the problem. Dan
