Hi All,
I've been a lurker for a long time here. I am a Ford fan who needs new wheels, and it looks like a Contour SVT is the way I want to go. I think I have some of the major "problem" areas covered by reading some of the older topics, and all.
I'm wondering if anyone can point me to a clean, low milage CSVT in the midwest without blue interior. I've seen a couple come and go on the east coast, but not a lot in the midwest. Any help is appreciated. Thanks,

meh. i dont like the tan interior personally, IIRC 99 and 00 only had that as an option, and those years get mega dash warp, and the dashes seem to be a little darker than the leather, making it look weird. good luck on your search.

my 98 is for sale in the classifieds. its a black with midnight blue, but has sparco's and a bunch of other mods

Dash warp FTL... I had it pretty bad and finally went in and fixed it up a little last fall so it's better now but the dash warping is definitely annoying. Whenever i used to drive "spirited" that freakin defrost vent always ended up flying into my lap.

yeah man, buying my contour i knew nothing about them. i guess i got lucky and got a good year. the defrost vent is tight, nothing creaks there. but i have major clunking now in the rear end, im sure the rear struts are shot though. this summer suspension is going on it.

Theres a 98 Black Svt at a small dealership in Marion, IA. I stopped to look at it the other day and its fairly clean but it was hard to know for sure because it was starting to snow alittle. It has around 110k on it and there asking 5k. Its an E1 and has MB interior.

Took me awhile to find one locally - I never did - bought my SVT through my brother-in-law in Massachusettes. Finding an interior not midnight blue adds to your challenge. My SVT is Black/Tan, but I didn't like the "tan" (three shades, one of which was mud brown - not real nice), so I changed the carpet and painted the dash/seats "Palimino" (spelling?). A bit more organgeish than I would prefer, but better than before. I like the palamino with the black exterior - will increase gold trim features on the exterior (have gold sidemarker lights, for example).

Anyway - you'll have to be patient to find and SVT you want here in the midwest.

And no one has lurked more and posted less on these pages than me I know little mechanically about cars, but I do like the Contours, so I'm in learn mode - not much to say, lots to learn.

Good luck.
