Strange vaccum leak

Hi all, long time lurker here, with a headache i'd appreciate some opinion on. I have a 2000 SVT with approx. 100K mi.

The CEL has been on, indicating that my front bank is running lean. After Changing the 02 sensor, and spraying TB cleaner on the vaccum hoses and grommets, i couldn't find the leak. I took the car to a mechanic who said that the vaccum leak is coming from where the metal rod (imrc runner?) that holds the secondary butterflies actually enters the lower intake manifold, just after the linkage. The Mechanic says that i have to replace the entire LIM. Has anybody ever heard of a vaccum leak at this spot? if so, Any creative solutions that don't cost big coin? is there any way i can have the hole in the LIM slightly enlarged and fit some kind of grommet around the metal rod to create the seal? can i wrap that part of the rod with something to slightly enlarge the diameter at the junction between it and the side of the LIM?
THANK YOU ALL

I haven't had to do it, but you could probably just replace the o-rings on the secondary shafts. I think there are 3 per shaft.

Welcome :) . Front bank is radiator side which is Bank 2. What exact codes are you getting now? Post and we will know better.
