I have just noticed that the 24v badges on the sides of the 1998 CSVTs are not in parallel with the door guards..where as the 99s and up are all parallel. Only reason I noticed is cuz I am looking at putting in some sidemarkers, and I think they would look SO much better if they were in line with the door guards. Oh well...

how about you remove the door ding guards then

I'll second that idea!

also is it possible that on your car the ding strips where just put back on in the wrong spot? I don't ever recal noticing that some cars didn't have them lining up ...

Isnt it because there isnt holes in the fender on th 98's? Someone correct me if im wrong.

So I guess it's your choice. I have also noticed some were located at different spots. I was looking to put my badges back on however. If you have pics we can decide if your ding guards are at a different level as others.

There are holes in the all post 98 fenders. If it's different it's because of the ding strips not in the correct spot.

Observation.

Looks like the ding strip is lower on the 98, maybe its the same case for you?

Looks like the height changed then. The badges are all in the same spots.

Yup, if you look at the badge in line with the front bumper the 24V badge is still right below where the bumper meets the fender, the dingstrip was raised. Wonder why that was done?

In my case, it's not just both side moldings are lower than the 24V mark, but the two sides are at different height!
And no, I didn't have accident that needed to replace the moldings. I am the original owner for that car. Talking about the quality control!

I didn't notice that until last spring when GTO Pete came to detail my car. At his cigarette break, he suddenly said 'hey man, have you ever noticed that the two sides are not at the same height?' and I was like 'duh!!' If I ever noticed that when the car was new, I will have the Ford dealership to redo that!!!

Yeah your right its not the badge thats moved, its the ding guards that have been raised... either way... Thanks alot!

Thats the same as when you notice something somebody does thats super annoying and you wish you never noticed it cuz now it drives you crazy and you cant stop noticing it... :troutslap:

..thats the finishing nudge for me, im removing the ding guards now!

You'll want to set aside a budget for paintless dent repair if you do!
I don't know about you, but no matter if I park in the furthest reaches of any parking lot, there's ALWAYS an SUV parked right beside when I come back!

how about you remove the door ding guards then

Cuz I don't really want to... I dunno yet tho, if I take the badge off and there isn't a hole there, which I doubt, then I will just drill a new hole. If after I put the sidemarkers on and I still don't like how everything isn't lined up, then I reckon I will consider taking them off. Just thought I would state an observation tho, cuz I hadn't noticed it before and I hadn't read about it before.
