Sean's CSVT #5906 Build Thread !

Hey guys.....originally I had made a thread in the 3L forum but I figured since my SVT will be getting more than just a 3L for this season ill make a "build up thread" here in the local forum for everyone to follow if they wish.

First off, the last photos of my SVT (taken with a cellphone on September 11th, 2010) when she ran- at "Importfest", one of Canadas biggest car shows held in Toronto, ON. On my way home from this show is when it all happened.

Now onto hibernation photos...

This is the first day after it happened, pulled the OEM cf hood off. (Currently FS on the boards!)

Pulled off the grille/lights, making my way onto other parts

Since this motor is garbage, I figured Id learn/freshen up my skills by tearing the motor down...(im 21yrs old)

And finally, how she sits today. These photos taken October 31, 2010, hasnt changed much since then either. Wheels are off as well (in process of obtaining new wheels) plus the obvious things are gone too- headlights, grille, front bumper, ST220, etc. And pardon my mess everywhere..

Im sure ill need some help along the way with the 3L but thats why I have all of you here .

As I obtain more parts and goodies I'll also update the thread! Cant wait until shes back!

UPDATE! - January 1st, 2011.

Well now that *mostly* everyone knows my wheel situation- i'm not getting the rims from the deal - so onto the prowl for some new ones...so since my SVT is on 4 jack stands I have decided to avoid any engine work for now until I can get rims.

So heres a parts update

First, a B&M shortthrow shifter w/ a black billet Steeda shiftknob.

Momo CF Series 6x9s

No trunklid...

If the taurus pan was the problem then every taurus with the DOHC motor would be down for engine damage. Installer of the motor is to blame, not the pan.

Good job so far Sean! Keep up the good work! And I'm gonna be doing a lot more creeping on here now, since I've decided I'm keeping the car : P. Get some experience building that 3L, cause I may ask for your help for one sometime soon

Well look who it is! lol alex...creeeeeper! Nice to hear you are keeping the SVT! What made you decide that rather than selling it? We still good for the sale of the parts too right? haha.


As for the pan theory, My 3L will have an Escape pan for sure, JUST to be safe, because you never know.

Hahaha I made come back . The fact that I couldn't find anything decent for sale, and that I have a lot in my car already so I figured I may aswell keep it and build it up. Yes sir we still are! I'm currently looking into a seat to replace my driver side Sparco hehe... just the driver side since seats are expensive lmao.

well i dont have an svt, mine is a 98 se sport but im lurking around here from time to time
also im not far south from hamilton
planning my own 3l build in the spring

Dirtybird yeah it sucked bigtime as I have no wheels now but I guess it forces me to find something even better lol. My SVT might be off the road until spring 2012 now so I have lotss of time to get everything done. That may change as I realllllly want to drive her this year but it all depends on $$$$

nah no pics right now looks kinda ••••ty in the snow and some body rust on the rear wheel well
but ima fix her up like new this spring.
im excited as its my first 3l and my headers and lc-1 wideband came in on friday and ive been working on datalogging for the megasquirt install to establish a baseline for ide pwm, warmup tables,spark advance and such
any words of warning about the motor swap

take your time, and do ALOT of research on it. its not a "easy" job for a first timer but its not difficult...what kind of 3L are you doing? Mine will be a full 3L.





Getting back on track though, got my parts tonight! Decided to catch a movie with the GF after that so thats why I havent replied until now haha.....since my camera is down, I'll just use a pic from the previous owner: .......

going full 3l from 2005 taurus with st220 intake some light head porting, headers, return style fuel rail mod.
had a good deal on a used engine but somebody scooped it up friday

Nope wasn't me...I won't be picking up a motor for awhile lol. Need wheels first, I may need to get my car out of its storage location in a couple months, so with wheels and no motor I can do that as I don't wanna drag it onto a flatbad haha.
