I was wondering if anyone was interested in any aluminium contour parts (door sills) being manufactured with the CEG logo, an SVT logo or maybe even a ford logo on them.
I am making this post to see what kind of parts you would like to see be made.
I have the capabilities of making lots of smaller parts.(big parts will cost more if you are up to it.)
PLEASE post ANY or ALL part suggestions!
I do not know when we can start production but I would like to get an idea of what kind of parts will be manufactured so i can give you a tentative production date.
I will start a Poll once i receive enough suggestions and start to see interest on certain ones.
Hope this works out!

I'd like that as well.
Can't think of much more that would be a really nice touch. Maybe aluminum knobs on the dash

I think that would be awesome. I was looking at my roomates 06 stang today and i think those door sills look awesome. I think the best thing for you to do would be to get 3 or so made up and get some pictures... like one with SVT on it, one with FORD on it, one with CEG on it... or CONTOUR on it. I think you'd get a bunch of people with that.

Once i get enough interest on the door sills, we will make up some prototypes and post some pics of them and get a tentative price out for all interested...
As of now...SPREAD THE WORD...and get interest so we can make some prototypes!

For price comparison, I thought I should mention you can buy a set of SVT sills that are from a SVT focuz for about $40.

I have the focus SVT sills installed and they look great. They may be a tad on the long side but still fit fine.

If we could get ones to match the svt focus door sill protectors for the back door with our build numbers (or whatever you want) on they that would be sweet.
My vote is for matching style rear door sill protectors with build numbers.

LOL, ceg'ers think alike. I was talking to him online last night and I told him, "the only thing I would be interested in would be the sills for the rear doors with '171' which is my build number of course."

another thing would be a blank oval of aluminum that would fit where the ford badges are, that way you can put any badge (svt, v6, 3.0) on it you would like.
I do remember a member making this type of thing with the svt emblem on it, so if they still are producing these then never mind as we dont need to be taking business from another ceg'er.

I just thought i would let you all know that if we end up making custom door sills for each person they most likely WILL cost more than $40 because we need to change the machine for each person and we aren't mass producing them.
I need to get a hold of some regular door sills to make measurements (i dont have my own Contour as of now) than my father and I can design them and make some prototypes.

I think they were $40 when they first came out I have seen them closer to $70 now... correct me if I am wrong, I will try to find out where I saw the price.

You could always just make them blank and then people could add what ever they wanted on the door sill. This would keep your price much lower since you have less machine set up time. Paint, sticker decal, and if you want to get really tricky you could mask off what ever you want on it then sandblast or media blast it and it would give a dull frosted look while the masked area will still be polished aluminum. This would look very similar to the focus SVT ones that many have already.

Well, we have the capabilities to sandblast them too. I just figured that it would look better to have them machined and not just sanded.
How much would you all be willing to pay for a custom machined door sill with build # or whatever u want on it?
OR, if you all can agree on one design, (SVT, CEG, Contour, etc...) we can probably make them cheaper.

If we did it, it would just be aluminum and most likely not polished (that would cost LOTS LOTS more)

I really like the idea of the rear door sills w/ the Prod. # on them.
Here is a pic of the front Focus SVT sills installed to give you an idea.
Some one mentioned earlier about a blank to put in the oval. I had some free time a while ago so I figured I'd try experimenting and made this. I had this grill and rear insert in prior to painting my extra grill and installing Stazi mesh all around. They are dirty and dusty from being stored for over a year but you get the idea.

So SVT or 5 speed shift nob, with matching E break handle and Base Ring!...Might cost more because it is solid aluminium instead of just sheet aluminium as in the door sills
I REALLY do like the idea though!
so now we have 2 great ideas...if we get one more I will start a poll and make one...and if interested is there, then we can make the rest later!
keep those ideas comming!

Would look sweet, but egh. How would you get it in without scuffing up the center console? That black plastic piece bends to clip in there.
Shift knob would look cool but probably pricey? I also like the idea of aluminum handbrake.

I like a lot of these ideas, but before everyone jumps onto the shift knob and handle bandwagon, think about how HOT they get in the summer, and COLD they get in the winter. It looks cool, but man I love the leather shift knob in the summer, when an aluminum knob would be 200 degrees!

On those rare occasions when it's hotter than "censored", just throw a small towel over it. If it's that hot, you'll have the a/c on and it'll cool down in a few minutes anyway. I've only used a towel 2 or 3 times.

Do you have any idea of price for any of this stuff, or will you know more once the proto types are made? I just do not want to you spend a ton of time and find out you made a $300 shift knob that no one is willing to pay for.
How will you be making these, I can make some designs in Solid works or Auto cad if you need.

My dad owns an injection molding business and he will design them through mastercam or maybe solidworks (he has both and uses them lots)
then we will either sandblast the doorsills or or cut them our on his CNC machine
as for the shiftnob...we would use the CNC to shape it and ingrave the top.
and YES after we prototype we will give you the price

What about us Mercury Mystique guys? We don't have build numbers to go off of for the rear ones, and this isn't just a SVT site, sorry to rain on parades. It is a good idea I've always wanted door sills for my car and would like 4 of them all around. Even plain ones for the back would be cool, hey if you do the "CONTOUR" ones why not make a "MYSTIQUE" for the Mystique guys? I'd be down for the CEG oval logo too. Maybe Contour and/or Mystique for the front and CEG oval logo for the rear? Just making suggestions.

You are not raining on anyones parade he is taking all ideas. Then there will be a vote and winning thing will get made first.
I am sure he could make you door sills with what ever you want if youre willing to pay. If the vote doesn't turn out in your favor.

That's the smartest way to go about it, from the manufacturer's standpoint. Make what a majority will buy, and offer custom stuff for the others, but at an additional charge.
My thinking is, SVT is going to be in the main production of these. If you look around, it's generally the SVT owners that are modding their Tours, and willing to put some money into them. I personally wouldn't be as interested in sills that said Contour(personal preference), and a CEG logo wouldn't make a lot of sense to a potential future owner of my car. Sure, I could try and take them off before selling, but most likely will ruin the paint underneath. Whatever I put down, is staying.

Just speaking in general terms here.:) I don't plan on selling the car anytime soon. I'm sure there are people here that think the same way though.

You should put Contour and Mystique in the same poll option, just a suggestion, or we could have it say "CONTIQUE" on the sill plate.
Edit: Oh I also noticed you added mercury and ford to the options you could put them together in the same poll option too.
I'm sure there would be some guys that would want ford or mercury on them.

I like that idea. Something like the ones that can be found on ebay for the focus, cobra, and lightning...

Or ZETEC, for us ZETEC guys, if we decide on something like that, if we get CONTOUR we'd need MYSTIQUE ones, if we get FORD ones we'd need MERCURY ones, etc. It really wouldn't be far for the Mystique and/or Zetec guys if we only had one design, like just Duratec.

listen, we are going to make whatever the "majority" of the group wants. yes, i kno this is a contour AND mystique group, BUT...if u read the group buy rules, it states that the parts are to be in a small quantity...not for the whole group.
SO...if the interested people want it to say SVT, then it will say SVT...until next time (if there is a next time)im sorry that i cant satisfy everyone...thats life!
I want to remind you all that this is still TENTATIVE!!! nothing is set in stone yet!!!
AND...if i am so unfair and unconsiderate, please dont clutter this thread with your 2 cents, make suggestions not complaints please...
thank you

Hey dude, no one called you unfair or inconsiderate. The dude was campaigning in his best interest just like everyone else who has posted an idea. The fact of the matter is that you asked for suggestions. If you didn't want people's 2 cents, you shouldn't have asked for it and complained about it afterwords.

Thanks muntus, he did ask for suggestions, I just don't want us Merc guys left out you know. Come on Ben lighten up man. If I'm cluttering up your thread with my "2 cents" then please don't "clutter up the forums with your GB." I WAS ONLY MAKING SUGGESTIONS LIKE YOU ASKED!

It's cool man, I'm just lookin out for my fellow Mystique owners out there making suggestions since no one else spoke up about it. I understand about work stuff and all, I'm gettin tired of my job as it is. I've been looking for a new job off and on. I hate mine because they ask for too much and the pay kinda sucks arse. Been there 4 years and get paid $7/hr.

Hey cab you go to NECO and guage some interest on a set of sills for the cougar that said FORD on them? I've been searching for a replacement set but haven't seen any but the crappy ebay ones that are too small, too cheap, and too ugly.
