First and foremost, I would like to thank the following individuals:

Ray: For his time and effort. Ray did a majority of the legwork to get the calendar off the ground which was not easy.

Mikey Boy: for the 2nd year, Mike has provided all layout and design from cover through December. Mike put in a lot of hours to make this calendar beautiful.

Voters: Veteran CEGers from throughout the country - thanks for your input.

Participants: Thanks for going out and taking pictures to be considered!

Those in the calendar: Congratulations!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please do not complain about:
"<CEGer A> made it and <CEGer B> didn't?"
"Too many SVTs"
"Not enough pre 98s"
etc. etc. etc.

Ray, Mike and I have spent hours upon hours working on this calendar for CEG. If you don't like it, STFU and don't buy it because I don't want to hear it.

Several CEGers who were voted in did not make it for one or both of the following reasons:
1) Even at high resolution, their pic was grainy and pixelated. This type of pic looks bad and wont print well at all.
2) During the process, it was discovered that resolution must be a minimum of 1800x1350. Several CEGers could only provide 1024x768 - doesn't work.

2006 CEG Calendar

=Price=
$15.99 + shipping
As in previous years, I make no profit from the calendars! The $15.99 includes a $1 upcharge for each calendar. The proceeds will be donated to the CEG server fund.

=Availability=
Unknown. But don't wait too long.
Cafepress stops producing the calendars after xx days. I'm not sure how long that is.

=Tips=
Combine order with local CEGers to save on shipping.

Last year, if you ordered over $50 you could use coupon code 5CPGIFT and got $5 off. I'm not sure if this will work or if the code has changed for 06. If anyone finds out, please share with CEG.

Hot! I'm definately getting one! Congrats to the winners.

Edit: I see that Tom's car made the calander. Which means my trunk lid made it. So I'm part of the calander now too.

Very nice job on this years calendar. Thanks to all who worked on this masterpiece. Even though I only made the cover shot, I still plan on buying several. Congratulations to those who made the inside, all the pictures chosen where well deserved. I will display it for all to see and proudly claim my affiliation with CEG.

Possibly, but not entirely for that reason. Remember, the pics chosen were of the best quality, least grain, best lighting, etc; and there's only 12 final cuts.

My runner ups were certainly grainy and mediocre. I had to reserve to a local park to run around in and snap shots. Not worthy imo, so I did what I could this year.

Btw, purchased.

The good: The calendar really does look great. I love the design and text used.

The bad: There are alot of repeat cars from earlier years. Also some lame backgrounds.... for example, driveways.

Either way they look great and I'll be ordering one on Tuesday.

I'll echo what Brian and Chris said, this is indeed an honor and I'm very happy that my car is liked by others as much as it is by me. It's great to be in such great company.

And to all who were involved and created this, they deserve a huge amount of thanks for all the time and effort they put into it.....for all of us.

It's too bad about the picture quality issue. I had a lot of favorites that didn't make it, but the turnout is still very nice!

Overall the calendar looks great. There are a couple pics I'm not sure about, but it still looks good.
It would be cool if there was a second version of the calendar.

I too think the overall turn out was excellent. Nice work guys. I just wish we would have stuck to the original requirments (eg. no houses/driveways in background). Anyhow my order is in. I can't wait to get it.

Thanks for all the hard work guys.

I did not even submit a picture, and man, this calendar looks AWESOME anyway!

Seriously, my car is currently un-worthy of such company.

Great job to the calendar makers & the folks who got their cars featured!

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

To answer some questions / points raised:

skrilla: Unfortunately, your resolution was way too low.

Originally posted by pole120:

Keep in mind that if you were asked for high resolution shots does not mean you made it in. There were about 15 voters who voted on about 50 pictures.

I agree and I feel badly for those indivduals. It's unfortunate, but now everyone knows that 1800x1350 is the minimum resolution.

Originally posted by RawBurt:

Credit Mike for this - he had total control of layout and deign.

Originally posted by RawBurt:

So what if there are repeats? So we should eliminate them even though they had the highest votes simply because they were in previous years? Can't help it that the voters find those cars/pics to be the best.

Originally posted by RawBurt:

There is one month with a driveway shot.

=Feedback on your submissions=
I have received a couple PMs politely asking why they didn't make the cut / what they can do to improve.

I will be more than happy to provide feedback to you regarding your submissions! Just shoot me a PM!!

I just bought mine. Had trouble trying to get it to ship to a different Canadian address. It kept asking for 5 digit postal code...even though I had selected Canada.

Anyways, congradualtions guys on a great looking calander, sorry I could not be a part of it. I hope to design the next one, and maybe after I fix my car, be in it!

I'll be ordering mine soon... but I first put out a request to my local SVTOA chapter members that don't have a Contique to see if any of them wanted one... and some of them did. I'll be ordering a few for our group very soon.

Did anyone figure out if that discount code works again this year?

It's expired. After your order is complete, you are given the opportunity to provide email address's of your "friends". If you do that, they and you get $5 off your NEXT order. I suppose you could order one and then go back and order more but the shipping on the secord order would eat the $5 off.

yeah I saw that. It said for an order for $20 or more.
Do they count shipping costs before they discount an order?
I didn't email any "friends" because I assumed that discounts get applied before shipping costs, and therefore wouldn't be helpful for anyone. Since I didn't do it, I didn't get the coupon code number.

The code I do have is for $5 off a purchase of $35 or more. code DEC25

Those pictures look like they have the same cropping/bleed region issue as the '04 calendars had. How pathetic.

And you can tell this because you have an 06 calendar in your hands? That's why a small white border was put in (just like 2005) - to prevent what happened in 2004. If anyone has any print quality isses, contact Cafepress - they should replace them free of charge.

If you can find someplace other than cafepress to do this, feel free to suggest or take on the 2007 CEG Calendar.

It's pretty sad that those who didn't make the cut are the ones bitching the loudest.

Oh please - you of all people should know better than to stoop to such low comments. I said NOTHING about not making the cut in my post.

Perhaps you didnt like the wording of my post but all the pictures in this thread and on Cafepress site are shown badly cropped. What else am I to judge by before buying the calendar? But in any case thanks for clearing up that issue.

mine were delivered today, I will take a look when I get home, I was pleased with the two last year and I am sure I will be again this year

I will agree at first it was weird that the names were cropped off the image until I noticed that the user name is on the image but much smaller, I agree I think the effact works

Yes, your wording is extremely poor - especially when you throw in "...pathetic. ". Was that really necessary? How else would anyone take it other than it being flamebait? Am I not allowed to retort in the same level you posted?

Understand where I'm coming from:
1. I don't own a Contour
2. I don't make money on the calendar
3. I didn't have much time to do it, but I did anyway
4. Ray, Mike and myself spent a lot of time and effort to produce 06
5. I don't see anyone else stepping up to do anything like this

So when people decide to bash it, I tend to get a little defensive. Hence the comment in the first post asking people hold criticisms to themselves - buy it or move on.

And my proposal still stands to you or anyone else:
1. If you can find a better place to do it at this price, let's try it.
2. If you want to take on the making of 2007, I'd be more than happy to pass it on.

as far as the design of the calendar goes, i wanted to use that script font because it is a great contrast to the hard metal lines of the cars. design is about contrast. to use this font at lets say 10-12pts for the members names just didnt work out. it looked like little scribbles on the page. i instead blew the names up huge and ran them off the page for a couple reasons.

reason one is that we are not able to design the dates portion which come at the bottom of the composition when you are looking at the calendar open. the names running off the pictures pulls the bottom portion into the design of the top. it runs off the pictures and appears to run onto the dates portion. the dates portion is white so your eye almost completes the letters of the name even though they are not really there.

reason two is that the names being cut off turns them into a graphic element and they dont function as names anymore. this helps reinforce reason one. this too is why the name is repeated on each composition in a legable font.
i dont expect for everyone to like the designs i do that is just not possible. i design because i love to design. i do my very best to make something that is pleasing to the eye and makes the viewer want to find out for themselves why things are the way they are.

when i show people compositions i do i like to ask them why they think things are the way they are. i like feedback from viewers as long as it is contructive. take time to really notice things and see a new world come alive right in front of your eyes that was there all along.

I'll try to use that code when I order. I'm going to be ordering like 10 of them (only 2 for me) so any discount helps.

Thanks!

Oh, and I definitely appreciate the effort put forth by all involved in putting this calendar together. Thank you all very much!

Recieved mine yesterday. The gf called me at work to tell me it was in, so I actually went home on my lunch to check it out. So sexy, and hot. I hope I can fix my SVT back up, and be in the calander for next year.

Congrats to everyone involved.

There were over 70 people that said they were going to buy calendars. I don't know if '50 orders' means 50 different people ordered calendars or that there were 50 calendars sold; but either way, there are a few people who said they were going to buy calendars who haven't. If he's referring to number of calendars ordered, then there are A LOT of people who haven't ordered that said they would. One guy bought 10, and I bought 2 and wasn't even on the list, so that's a lot of names on that list without calendars.

dont get me wrong, the car is nice, i mean its better than mine i just dont think the picture was calender worthy.

After looking at it again it would be a Great shot if the Front licence plate cover wa taken off.

I'm not entirely sure Matt. You may want to shoot them an email and ask.

And why do you need "some paychecks"? Do you only make $10 a week? (j/k)

Lol. Because of the winter break in school, I haven't had a job, and I've been taking a winter class, and my next check doesn't come till next week. Therefore, I have almost no money and need it for stuff like food and gas. I'll shoot them an email, thanks Pete.

Ordered 2, didn't even have to wait for payday, (does that make me rich?) and I DON"T EVEN HAVE A CONTOUR!! Hey, they should make great gifts for those Contour owners with 'almost' everything, right? :-)

Now we just need 1/43 models......

55 orders, 73 calendars.

Not too bad. A little less than last year IIRC.

I've received a few PMs asking me if I have any calendars left.

Please read the first post in this thread to buy from CafePress!

I'm not sure how much longer they will be available.

I just got a new Canon S2IS 5.0 megapixel camera (well, ok my wife did, but she doesn't know how to use it yet) so I'll be taking and submitting some higher quality pics this year.

Yes, you have plenty of MPs with that camera. Will work fine if the optics are decent and there are not obvious electronic 'artifacts' in the pictures.

That'll be up to you guys at this point Eric. I still got too much goin' on down here & I don't think I'll be able to attend. I'm sure Roger will be happy to line everybody up for an early morning sunrise shot in the mist at the dam overlook or sup'm like that. Maybe at sunset by the lake - similar shot to what we took at the spring run.
