Can anyone point me in the right direction of how to edit the registry from the c: prompt? I have searched all over google, having the problem with XP logging in and then logging off right away.

I have been in safe mode and it still does the same thing. Same no matter what I do including logging in as the administrator.

It's a virus. In order to get rid of it you have to run a virus scan at startup before the operating system loads. Norton will do it. You just have to have the CD in the drive when you start the computer.

As for your problem, check this page.
I tried that program and either I am doing it wrong or it isnt dos supported because it would not load when i tried from the floppy drive at the a: prompt
From what I have read it is a virus that changes a path in one value of the registry and I am trying to change it back

I'll have a look at it later, when I'm at a PC with a FDD.
Out of interest, are you using NTFS file system, or FAT32 on XP. If so can you view your C: drive from your floppy ? If you have NTFS, and are using a FAT floppy, you will not be able to see your drive.
I'll let you know what happens when I try the prog.
