Greetings,

..Woke up this morning to a missing, drivers side,
power side view mirror. They only took the glass!!
It has a couple wires hanging down (heated
mirror?)

My question is; Did they break anything by
getting just the glass. (can't tell by looking
but it was dark) Is that a "field replaceable"
unit or do I have to purchase the whole mirror?

I think someone said that the parts stores don't carry the self-adhesive ones. A salvage yard or glass cutters (buy a bigger mirror from the parts stores and cut it) would be useful.

I hope this link works for you, because it has the prices for mirror glass only. Must be a FRU. I know in most cars the glass just pops in and out. You have to be very careful though not to break the glass or the mirror housing.

Seems kinda strange that someone would just take the glass off the car. I am sure you have done this, but check around the neighberhood for the car. Yyou should do it quick so you could look for a broken mirror if they haven't switched them already.

Well, The mirror glass is FRU and it's on order from the dealer $65. I'll be driving around in the neighborhood looking for a mystique or contour with a newly replaced mirror glass......... Don't know what I'll do if I find it........

I know, I'll stick a "Estate Sale Inside Come on in" sign in their front yard 5am Saturday morning.....
