My gf is going to be driving from Schaumburg, IL to Indiana at 5pm today.

Can anyone here recommend a route that won't be all gridlocked and will get her to Indiana is less than 2 hours?

Well, she will end up driving down to Martinsville, IN.
Only reason I'm asking this is because when she drove there yesterday, the traffic heading south and to Indiana was all backed up on the I-294 and I-80/94. So she wanted me to check if there were any 'back roads' that could help her avoid all that.

and I want a Ferrari for Christmas.

sorry, but that's about the worst time of day to try to get anywhere. There are some "back roads", but there is still too much construction going on to recommend anything. Best thing to do is take the highway & hope for the best.

the only shortcut i've found recently has been to avoid the mess just over the border of 94/90/80.

Basically use 394 South, exit at Rt. 30, and take that east to I 65.

Thats the only shortcut i know about.
