About a year ago there was some really good discussions on an adapter which goes between the TB and UIM which would eliminate the air deadpanning at the back of the UIM. Someone in Michigan knows what I'm talking about.

Yeah, I remember discussions about a TB spacer. IIRC the general concensus was that since the manifold runners were pretty long already, adding a few inches at the TB wouldn't provide much benefit. I may fab one up this winter to see what the results are like....

Several size spacers were dyno tested with absolutely no change in performance or throttle response.

True...but I am not talking about a spacer. I am talking about a device that smoothes out the airflow going into the UIM. If you remove your TB and look in the UIM, you will see that the air is forced to make an abrupt 90 degree turn to get to the runners. The discussions were about an adapter that actually smooths out the 90 deg. bend the air has to make. It would actually help prevent the air from deadpanning at the 90 deg. bend. This would INCREASE the velocity of the air going into the motor. Where the air deadpans actually causes the air to slow down and the engine to work harder to pull the air in. It is not snake oil but very dfficult to accomplish without serious R&D.

there are real gains to be made here. i can not believe no one is giving this topic any discussion. but the people who understand this are the ones who want to keep it a secret. hehehe. come on guys [Terry]

I know what your saying, but it's tricky. You may be able to put a fin in the UIM to split the stream a little more gracefully, but you'll be giving up some volume. (And consistent fitment will be iffy on the internal casting.) A custom TB spacer may be helpful, but you still have that 90 degree bend there. A custom UIM will not be cheap either. I agree there are some gains there, but a good solution isn't here yet. Terry did hint at this in the old forums, and hopefully he's still working on something for us.

Among all of us there has to be someone with access to a shop who would help with this kind of application. A UIM similar to the mustangs would be much better. Not saying a Mustang one because it would obviously not fit. Someone has to have info on this stuff as it is essential for getting more air into the cylindars. if you look closely at our UIM's, the air makes no less than 4 90 degree bends. I would like to find a way to eliminate 2 of the bends. How can this be done...Terry, what did the Porsche proto UIM look like?

Wasn't someone talking about a dual throttle body UIM? An intake plenum for the front cylinders and one for the rear?

Was it Terry?

That would help a lot....
