Saratoga...wish I had remembered your name last week, I was up at lake george. Some great roads up there around the lake man!
There certainly are...there are some fantastic roads in Washington County, which is on the east shore of Lake George...there is a Route 149 between Glens Falls and Granville (on the VT border) that is a great ride early on a Sunday morning when the traffic is light. Very twisty; you really have to row through the gears when you're pushing it.
Also there is a great drive from Fort Edward east on NYS Route 197 to Argyle, then south on NYS Route 40 to Greenwich (pronounced Greeeen-wich, not Gren-ich), a short distance east on NYS Route 29 through the middle of Greenwich and then east on NYS Route 372 from Greenwich to Cambridge (also on the VT border).
Another good road is south on NYS Route 9N (not to be confused with U.S. Route 9) that runs from Lake George down to Saratoga Springs. Not super twisty, but a nice drive with decent scenery.
You downstate folks have to come up sometime in the fall, especially the last week of September/first week of October when the fall colours are at their best.
I'll be down on Long Island a fair amount this fall, every other weekend from mid-September to mid-November I will be down for a 3-day weekend. Maybe I'll run into you folks down there. I'll be mostly based in the northwest part of Nassau County (Port Washington, Mineola, New Hyde Park, Westbury, Manhasset, Great Neck, etc.).
