Sorry, must have had my head in my butt when I posted about front grill earlier, what I need to know about is the lower front grill, which has a black plastic piece held on to the back of the lower grill by 4 screws, what purpose do they serve, and are they really necessary?

some sort of wind deflector. Took em off when doing mesh grilles, 6 months later, car is fine...not needed
