i'm thinking about getting a motorcyle, as i'm headed off next year to an pretty urban, spread out college campus
i have never owned or driven one, so any advice on a good cheap bike that I could buy for a first timer? one of my friends told me i shoudln't get anything over 500cc's for my first bike
he also told me to get a rider, not a street bike, but one where you sit back, because it's more comfortable and just easier
i've seen a lot of people with bikes post pics and stuff, so if you could give me any advice, i'd really appreciate it

For just riding around campus, get a Vespa. Euro-cool, and great for giving girls rides.
Girls will accept a ride on a Vespa when that would never get on a full-size bike. And they have to hold on to you - instant "bonding".

Don't worry... MOST bikes are made for smaller frames. Being over 6' makes bike shopping not very fun...
Take the MSF course THEN start shopping around for a used bike.

What I found when I looked at bikes: A new ninja 500 was $3k cheaper than a new ninja 600, and my insurance doesn't classify 500cc bikes as sport bikes. Make sure to check with your insurance as that could very well affect what kinda bike you can afford.

If you are just looking for a cheap way to commute around campus, and if you're a small dude, you definitely don't need a Harley. Get something small, preferably by Honda, something like 175cc should do ya fine. If you aren't going to go out cruising on the highways, a small bike will do OK for you. I grew up on a Honda SL-175, and commuted to work for three years on it, and went on a couple of highway trips with it too.

My plan exactly! I'm taking the course in two weeks, and then gonna see what I can afford, if anything.

Get a 250CC Nighthawk - easy as piss to ride. Otherwise a 250CC Ninja - they're sporty-ish and are cheap too.
