bulbs

yes not the "real" HIDs but those HID look alikes...

I've seen em on a couple civics...they're white and look just like HIDs only not as bright and don't nearly cover as much area

but I actually like them and I wanna get some...I know somebody here knows what I'm talking about...

and no its not those blue ricer lights.

Also, for some reason my 9006 lights will not screw in right and they're aimed at the ground...looks like I don't even have headlights from the inside of my car...anyone got a pic of how its supposed to be screwed in...I know it shouldn't be hard but it will not screw in.

how do you do that? really want to use the 9005 for low beams how much does it cost?

You just gotta cut something on the 9005s to make them fit. Silverstars are about $15-$20 a set. Ask bk4293 for a pictorial how-to.

I dont know about the silverstars but i did it with the cool blues and i didnt have to cut anything. Just grasp the bulb and connection around your hand and squeeze. (be careful not to touch the bulb)

siverstars are about $50 a pair from a auto parts store. you can get them on ebay for about $35 a pr. they are brighter than cool blues and are cheaper and last longer than piaas. (well piaas have so many diff. colors and watt. but comparing apples to apples that is). to use 9005 for lows use simpley remove the plastic piece from inside the bulb socket thing. i used a dremel. i cant remember if 9005 have 2 plastic prongs or 1. but if 9005 have 2 than 9006 have 1 or vice versa. DONT REMOVE THE METAL PRONGS FROM THE BULB BASE. just the plastic piece.

They are not $50 a pair. They are $20 a pair, and when I got mine there was a rebate. So it was like $15.

great answers...unforunately none of them were answers to my question.

im done with Sylvanias after using the Cool Blues...I couldn't even get them to screw in right and now I still have the current problem. I can get my beam to aim right...

I still want those HID look alike lights though, they look nice. Unless they were really cheap projectors

Silvania 9006 wll fit no prob. Now if you want the highbeam lights in the low beam spot then you have to cut.

i answered your question. i have the bulbs your looking for. if u dont want sylvania, buy the $10 kind off ebay. concensus seems to be that the ss r great. i ended up getting bulbs that had a slightly lower color to stay away from the hid type. ss=4100k mine r 3600k otherwise i'd run the ss

$70 for all 4 or 35 for a set, shipped.

Why should he try to use 9005's

i answered your question too. you asked what bulbs to get, not our fault your lamp is broken. lots of people have used 9005 in lows so there should be no reason why they wont fit in your car. you may have to wiggle it a little but it should go on no problem. try takin your lamps completely off and then try putting in the bulbs. as far as a broken adjustment screw you are on your own with that. kinda hard to give a "fix" without seeing what is actually broken. post some pics if you can.

he dont have to do anything but if you dont like regular halogen bulbs and are gonna spend the $$$$ to put new bulbs in then you might as well get the higher wattage bulbs. they cost basically the same, gives you alittle more light, and are not so bright that it bothers on coming cars.

advanced autoparts has them for 20/bulb. mine are brand new in box for 70 shipped for all four or 35 shipped for a set. i've never seen them for 20/pair. if anyone wants to try them, hit me up. you'll save a few bucks and help a fellow ceg'er to make the fit in the lows, some have forced them in. otherwise u can dremel or exacto knife two plastic tabs/ridges to clear the low socket.

zetec, where r your stock bulbs, if u put them in does your problem go away meaning you got a bad set of blues and its not the headlight opening. why not return the bulbs if they r defective. how long has it been since u bought them

I found those Cuzos 9005's if you still want them. Send me a PM with your info and I'll let you know where to send the moolah.

stock lights? uhhh good question...I don't know what the hell happened to them.

I just bought some cheapo Xenon bulbs about a week ago, definitely worse than the Cool Blues. I think i'm just screwin it in retarded cuz it doesn't look like anything is messed up...it was at night though so

i'll try again later and see...may not need new bulbs, although those HID look alikes are pretty nice I think.
Posted By: hmouta_dup1 Re: Where can I get those HID light... - 09/12/03 04:53 AM
see if u can borrow some stock bulbs from another member or something (obviously without screwing up their bulbs). gotta find out if its the bulbs or the headlight opening or u. good luck
Just for curiousity, take a look at the lamp retainer rings. If your highbeams are where they should be but the lows arent, the ring could have popped loose. Its highly unlikely, but it could have happened.

But, the better fix would be to rip the stock lamps out and fit it with some projectors.

For those who are wondeing above, 9005's are the high beam bulbs and put out somewhere around 1700. 9006's only put out around 1000. Lumens i think is the unit. Anyway, they are just much brighter, and all you have to do is squeeze them into the socket.

Not sure if you want the "bluish" look or not but the best bulbs to buy are Silverstars. Buy a pair of 9005's and cut out the little tab inside, real easy. The wattage of the highbeam is 60w compared to 51w of the lowbeams. The difference is amazing, you will not believe the difference. I did this to my Tour, before I got HID's and recently did this to my winter beater, you can't beat it. Theres no danger of hurting your headlights or wiring either, many have done this and been running them for YEARS This is a "must do" mod to any car that runs the 9006/9005 set up
