So I get my code pulled yesterday for the 420. Fine, peachy. I'm dropping the car off next week to get an estimate. No warranty left, so it comes out of my pocket.

I'm driving tonight, and suddenly the brake pushes all the way into the floor. Looks like the master cylinder is gone, too. I've got 18 months or so left to pay on the car, and I'm getting pretty pissed at it.

I think I might be reaching troll status pretty soon!

I think a junk yard and some time are your best friends at the moment

don't give up yet, I am sure your car has alot of life left in it, you just need to help it alot

but then again you might not want to listen to me, I spent $200 for new lower control arms for a car the is near 10 years old, but you know what I want the Mystique to hit 200k and I am sure it will

You posted it in some other thread the other day...

Heheh. That was at the car show. I was VERY impressed, and it's close in price to a full-loaded 6s.

We shall see. I've gotta figure out a way to sell the car and try to recoup as much of the remaining loan as I can.

IIRC, the master cylinders are VERY expensive to repair on these cars....VERY expensive.

So here's the latest update. I feel a hell of a lot better. But I don't like the way the future of this car looks.

Brake line pretty much exploded on Sunday night. Apparently the line is crammed into the engine cavity near the firewall. It was rubbing up against something (same thing happened to vacuum lines in my GL) and it ruptured.

Speed sensor will be replaced.

Here's the kicker.

Looks like the 420 code is likely caused by a pretty sizeable exhaust leak after the pre-cat. Looks like a bolt or stud snapped, and that's the reason the 420 code is coming up. That'll be fixed, as well.

All told, I figured I was looking at a large bill for all of this.

Looks like a total of $520 or so for the repair.

I love good mechanics. If you're in the Somerville area, go check out Al's Auto Engineering on Somerville Ave. He's a great guy, knows what he's doing, and is pretty honest with you.

Ahhhhh. Picked the SVT up this morning. It's like driving a completely different car. Aside from the moose, the car is nearly perfect.

$525 later, everything's back to normal, the car will stop on a dime, speedometer works again, and I've got a new piece of exhaust pipe.
