Dgussin stopped by my buddy's shop to size up some various Iforged sets i have

first up: (my choice) 19" brushed aluminum Aeros

the smooth transition to polished 20" Daytonas...

and finally, 19" 3 piece black Daytonas... (difficult to see set up like this)

i call this pic "Heavyweights" lol

Dave did some flybys which i recorded on video, hopefully he'll post them up in here.

as it drove by the you can barely hear the blower whine and the exhaust is quite muted. cant wait to see these modded! Dave was good enough to give me a ride and although the stock suspension SUCKS! what i mean by this is when he took off that thing was all over the place. i havent ridden in a stock terminator so i dont know if they were like that as well. it does handle pretty awesome though. and this thing has incredible torque. i dunno, maybe its cuz i was in the passenger seat for once, but man does that thing throw you back in the seat. i was shooting video when he floored it and the camera goes instantly from the road in front to the ceiling, as i get tossed back into the seat :burnout:

and yes, these wheels are all sized for S195 but can be re-done to fit S197.
Great minds think alike because those first rims are PERFECT

The second set are just to busy and those black rims w/polished lip just aren't for that car IMO. I for one really hope he goes with our choice for sure

BTW, I like the choice of "compound"
I was going to vote for the black 19s, until I saw the blue racing stripes. Wouldn't look right together. If the Daytonas came in a smaller size than 20, I'd say go for those. As it stands between the three of them, the first set.
The first fit a mustang well.

The second look good, but would be more for a flashy car rather than a performance car.

The third .... no.
Yummy clean solid 5 spoke. You know what's funny about being a car guy. No matter how nice the wheels are that come on the car. They must be changed.
The first wheels FTW

Especially those rims on the Cobra IMO theres few cars that you leave the rims stock on, but a couple that come to mind:

-C6 ZO6
-E46 M3's
-MazdaSpeed 6...J/K

Also the 99 Prelude Type SH (in my opinion).

I like the second set of rims, but in my opinion the stock rims look pretty good. (they give a sense of strength)

Wonder what a GTO would be like with IRS if a solid is squirmy. - must be aweful!

All in all a great car. Man does that front end look mean!!!
Cool, car that goes for about 20K over sticker and still has a fugly set of wheels and shi*%y suspension. On top of that, it doesn't look nearly as good as some of the Roush and saleen models available. I understand it has an insane amount of HP but I still can't see that this alone would justify the price. I'm sorry but I still don't see what all the buzz is about.

Are you insane? Roush and saleen make some of the UGLIEST cars out there. yes, they are going for way over sticker price...but it will come down in a little while. It is the whole "gotta have the first one" syndrome. And I think they should just stick with the stock rims. Good enough.

Definitely not insane

Obviously you have no taste. You need to go for a ride in one of these or drive one. Then come talk [censored] about it!!

the owner of that particular Cobra was in the Ford Powerlease program. if you leased a terminator you were guaranted a Shelby......at sticker price! he got his for $46k! (signed by Shelby too) from Galpin Ford which supposedly has/had one for $105k!

so lets see, a 500 hp Cobra with 6spd tremec trans and other goodies. OR a 325hp Saleen with a bunch of plasticky crap tacked on for $55k. also Roush stage 1. same thing with the terminators. $35k for 390hp s/c IRS 6spd yada yada or base model S281 or ROush. dont get me wrong, i LOVE Roush mustangs, but you get more bang for your buck with Cobras. no one is forcing these people to buy these things at gouged prices. once theyre all over the place at sticker, these first buyers will realize they were suckered.

Nce comment, I have no taste because I don't like a car that you do. No need to drive one, I know exactly what to expect. You can extremely fast in a straight line and then eat shat when you hit a corner because the suspension needs work. But hey, you should expect to have to pay for a new suspension when you're shelling out 40k for a new car. Oh wait, 60k for now because most tools are under the impression this is going to be a collector car. Maybe someone should tell BMW that they can save their company some money by putting a POS suspension on their M series cars. We can argue about this all day long just like in other posts but at the end of the day, I still think the car is bland and had so much more potential. Oh btw, I do drive a contour which I'm assuming you do as well so think about your "no taste" comment for a minute.

You argue that the cobra has a [censored] suspension and needs work to stay with cars such as the M3 in the corners... Guess what sweethart, The M3 needs engine and powertrain mods to keep up with the Cobra..

First of all, I'm not your sweethart. You may swing the door both ways but I'm not in that club. Btw, I think you missed the point. The simple fact remains that this car could have been so much better with just alittle more effort from Ford.
ok the car handles pretty damn good if you ask me, a hell of alot better than my stock mustang. the shelby is alot better in the corners and alot better on the straight away hooking up. its not like the cars suspension is a POS. I think that shelby and svt took a great deal of time on reworking the suspension and would not have settled for a POS as you say. I guess it really dosent matter, mine will go fatser in a straight line
You get a freakin' 500 horsepower car for $40K!!!! What else do you want? And compairing the Shelby to a M3 is compairing apples to oranges, two compleatly different cars ment for differnt things. And the Shelby not being a collectors car, tell that to my fiances dad who owned a 70 shelby GT500 convertable, 67 fastback stang, 68(?) Boss, 70 Torino. You just never really know what cars are going to be collectors 30 years from now. But the people paying $10K+ more than book are idiots.

Elraido,
Let me try to clarify this. I'm not comparing the Shelby to an M3. What I was trying to get at is, that for the price of an M3 you get a very well rounded car that drives phenomenal. Again, I think the Shelby has alot of bang for the buck "once it can be had for 40-45K" and not the roughly 60K people are having to pay now. If I remember correctly, I recall reading that these were going to be mass produced and that's why I made the statement about not being a collectors car. In all honesty, given it's heritage, it should not be mass produced and very well deserves to be a collector car someday. The moral of my whole argument is that I simply feel that this car could have been absolutley phenomenal with just a few adjustments. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I'm glad to see alot of people love this car. Ford can certainly use the revenue before they fall off the map lol
you got that right about ford falling of the map, right along with GM. Isn't it nice to see that the only decent cars it seems either of them make are their top of the line sports cars---Mustang, Vette. What are the production numbers for the Shelby anywho?

I found somewhere online that this year roughly 9000-10000 would be produced. That's not too bad but if they keep making them every year for the next few years, they wont be that rare.
i hope they keep selling them... gives me more time to try and win the lottery to buy one
iirc, GM made a ton of 57 Chevys, arent those collector cars? its not completely about numbers produced or how rare they are in 30 years, but how desireable the car is. of course rarity will make the car worth more, but in 30 years, who's to say how many are still around in mint condition. how many wont be wrecked? like the terminator, i think they definitely will be worth something, just maybe not as much as a COPO camaro.

as far as this cobra's handling, i forgot to mention that he took some corners at pretty high speeds and the car was just glued to the road. im sure having 9" wide Goodyear F1s has something to do with it, but for stock suspension i was really impressed with its cornering abilities.

while the M3s keep going up in price, for $46k this cobra cant be beat, although i wish they would have still kept them in the $30ks.... i bet you with a professional driver in each car, that shelby could keep up, or surpass, the M3 no problem.
FWIW, I'll take a Dinan S/C'd M3 over the Cobra anyday and I'm sorry to repeat myself, but those rims are ugly, just like the ones on the Saleen, although I do like the rear treatment on the Saleen though Also, can someone check the Cobra into Jenny Craig

Biggest problem right there. 3900 pounds, right?

I know right? Good lord does the Cobra needs a diet. I'd be much more impressed with a 3200 lb Cobra than a 3900. As it stands, however, I'm waiting for the Camaro and Impala SS...

She's real fine my 409....
Cobra-
anyway...back to wheel talk.

first ones, hands down.

I'm partial to 5 spoke but I think its hard to beat a nice 5 spoke wheel...
