As my E0 SVT ages, I've noticed that after opening the trunk, it really doesn't really want to stay in the open position. Any slight jostling of the car and the trunk comes down -- wham! -- usually on my neck as I'm rumaging around trying to take something out. I've rented Tauruses (Tauri?) in the past that have had wonderfully powerful springs that snap the trunk open when the remote is pressed. The Contour has always been lame in this regard, and it seems to be getting worse with age. It's not a huge problem, but obviously a pain (in the neck). Any options?

Note this is different than the trunk spring popper issue, which is the only related item I could find in the archives. Perhaps my SVT is the only one with weak springs?

Trunk is held open by struts, not springs. Possibly time to replace one or both.

p.s. Not designed to "snap" open, only to assist when lifting and to hold open.

finally, someone has the same problem as me! My problm with this is that the "springs" are so weak that whenever any of my friends close the trunk they end up slamming th sh*t out of it! I need some kind of support so it doesnt come crashing down each time.

By the way, the trunk on my E0 SVT has never opened with the remote entry, i bought it about a year ago. I just gave up bothering to fix it.
