I had better reaction times, but my 1/4 time did not improve. I didn't miss shifts, so what's the deal? The funniest thing is I beat this 74 Maverick with a 440 in it, but of course he messed up something terrible on his R/T! That is he didn't react at all . It was fun fun!! Everything was their last night, preludes, BMW'S, SRT-4, WRX's, scores of mustangs, jeeps, blazers, IS 300, you name it. It was nice to see how they all run the 1/4.

Your reaction time has no effect on your time. If you can whittle away at your 60' times and shift like a madman, you should see those times improve.

Thanks Kung Fu Joe, I think I know what you mean. It seems my car sucks when shifting to 2nd . I can feel it hit, and it seems like a good shift but the end result shows different. I guess that the 170 ft./lbs of torque is the culprit. I don't know - I am just talking. But I have learned a lot just by listening to you guys, so I appreciate the advice.

move your shift points around. 1 or 2 hundred rpm makes a difference. also look at your time slip real good, how quick you are at each point, 330, 1/8 and 1000 can help you determine your correct shift point. every car is different. later

I think if your hitting you shifts, you biggest improvment are should be 60 ft, just working on getting a really good launch, and i bet you will get close to breaking into th low 15's. i would think you should be able to pull off a 2.2. i have got a 2.3 with not that great of tires.. what tires do you have? do you lower your tires pressure?

I have ASA 18" rims on pirelli supersports. I was running the stock KDW's up front. Front pressure was 29 psi and back was 31 psi. I did my best run with 18's all around the Fri before last (15.4 @ 89mh). Oh, I forgot to mention I was running a touch of 110 octane gas, just a touch!

do you know the weight of your wheels? If i rember right i went all the way done to 20 psi, not sure how much that would help. how do you launch?

From what I understand, you shouldn't lower the air pressure on a FWD car with street tires. It lowers the amount of traction you get and creates more rolling resistance once going.

Hunt: I tried different ways. When the last yellow light comes on I go for it at about 2k to 3k rpms. And I also tried no rpm and just shoot out. As for the tires I do not know the exact weight, but I do know they are lighter than the stock KDW's.

Kerm: That is what I heard as well, and I am going to go with more air pressure. I did read one guys post where he said he set his pressure to 39psi.

He wanted to know the weight of the wheels, not the tires. Running larger diameter wheels will usually make your car slower in the 1/4 mile.

Someone else with more experience in a contour on the 1/4 mile chime in here if I'm completely outta line.
